IMPROVEMENT IN RElN-GUIDES FO'R VEHICLES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 142,127, dated August 26, 1873; application filed February 17, I873.
and arranged in combination with the thills as to prevent the horse from being able to catch the rein or reins under his tail, thereby giving additional security to life, limb, and property, as hereinafter more fully set forth, and shown by the annexed drawing and letters of reference marked thereon, in which- A, B, and G are perspective views of parts combined.
My rein-guard B may be constructed from an ordinary rod or strap, of any suitable mafrom being able to catch the rein or reins under his tail. The height of the guard B above the thills A A depends upon its length, which may be sufficient to admit of any necessary adjustment up and down. The rein-guard may be made with or without the loop or ring 0, which is for the purpose of retaining the reins, which may be passed through it, at a safe distance from being caught and at any given point. By the employment of guard B, which extends up and across from thill to thill, the reins are held off from the horse and from liability of being caught by any part of the harness or whiffletree, and requires no extra adjustment of the reins by its use.
