Be it known that I, .LoUisn A. MocHnL, a citizen of the United States, residing at Chicago,` in the county of Cook and'State of Illinois, have invented new and useful lmproveinents in Copyholders, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.

' My invention relates to copy holders and more particularly to the class usedby type# writer operators, stenographers and clerks.

The object of my invention is to provide a copy holder, the rack of `which can be adjusted vertically and horizontally 'to and from itsV support to bring the copy in front of operator, and render it unnecessary to keep twisting his head or lookingsidewise, particularly when its base is limited to a very small surface on which it can be supported. It is also the object of my` invention to provide for the vertical extension of the plate upon which the copy is held, so that it can be used for holding legal cap and other comparatively long copy above the surface upon which its support rests. Yet another object of my invention is to provide a novel means or marker for indicating the lines of the copy.` This and other objects are accomplished by and as particularly pointed out'in the claims.

My improvement comprises a base 'T of any suitable design, from the center of which a stud, 8, arises, that is preferably square in crossssection. l tubular upright 9, which is also square in cross'section, is fitted over stud 8, and one side of its lower end portion has a slot 10, through which a thumbscrew, 1l, passes, that is tapped into stud 8 to securely fasten upright 9 thereto.

What I claim as new is:
