INVENTOR W CEVZ BY' J/p ATTORNEY y will be apparent to those skilled in the art.
' WALTER o. LINDEMANN, or MILWAUKEE, W sconsin. I
nnsnnvom roe OIL STOVES.
T 0 all whom it may concern 1 1 'Be' it known that I, WALTER C. Linen-- MANN, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of the city of Milwaukee, inthe county of Milwaukee, State of Wisconsin, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Reservoirs for Oil Stoves, of which the following is a specification.
oil stoves of the student lamp type, and are in'the nature ofimprovements in'the con' struction described and shown 1n United v States Letters Patent N 0. 1,120,827, of December 15, 1914. f
'It sometimes happens that the ring or band mounted on the stove frame and supporting the bottle constituting the main reservoir becomes bent so that it does not support the bot-, tle in the properposition with respect to the auxiliary reservoir or sub-tank. If this ring or band is bent downwardly the valve at the 1 bottom of the main'reservoir is too low, and the liquid fuel does not riseto the full height in the burnerfand if it is'bent up the subtank fills to a higher level than is desirable and the liquid rises above the proper height in the burners, and may even overflow atthe burners. It is desirable therefore that the proper'relationship between the bottlesupporting band and the sub-tank shall be maintained, and to that end the present impro'veburners supported thereon out of proper ad;
j ustment and relationto the tank. The present improvements therefore provide means for reinforcing the end plate of the stove frame at the point where the supply pipe passes therethrough, so that its proper position and relationship to the main tank and sub-tank will be insured.
- The presentimprovements are designed to secure these advantages, and others which The improvements are illustratedinthe accompanying drawings, in whlch Figure 1 is a perspective view of the end plate of'a frameLplate showing the, v, 7 means in detail; Figure 4 is The improvements relate to IGSGIVOIISfOIf mentioned.

the tank supporting ring and the sub-tank;
Figure 8 is an end View of a vertical section thereofon the line 4-4 of Figure 3; Figure 5is a detail in bail and band of th-emain reservoir.
a liquid hydrocarbon stove, which may be provided with I fixed orvertically adjustable burners of" the wickless type or'with wick burners. 'indicates the main liquidhya Portion of the i 5' pipe supportingv perspective of the carrying A represents the end'plate of the frame of.
drocarbon tank or reservoir, commonly called the bottle, which is'usually made ofglassin order that the level of liquid therein may be easily observed. C is" the auxiliary reser-" voir or sub-tank, into which the liquid of the main reservoir is automatically" discharged,
after the manner of the well known student '5 1 lamp tank, the mouth of the bottlebei'ng providedpreferablywith a'spring valve of the character of that The main reservoir-(has an annular groove B, which receives and holds a metallic band K with extendingportions K, bymeansofwhich itis supported vertically on the ring D.- Two of'these loopsiKf also receive ends'of the bail L for lifting and car-J rying the bottle B. The ring D is in turn. supported,'- so as. to hold the main reservoirin its proper relation, 10 the bracket, E 's'ecured I I to the endplate A'.:': he auxiliary reservoir- Cis supported from'the end plate by 'arms' F, each secured at one'endto the said end plate and at its'outer end to the auxiliary reservoir.
shown the patent above and laterally This reservoir is also su o t d'b fuel supply pipe G connected therewith near its bottom and extending therefrom through the end'of the stove frame. I i
To the outer part ofthe supporting ring Dthe upper'end of the member H is secured,
and thismember extends downwardly therefrom and inwardly to 'a point inside the-an nular rim or flange C of the auxiliary reservoir, and through the opening therein.
The lower endof the member -H has two ope j posed angular recesses cut therein so thatits extremity has a T-sha'pe', and the flange C of the auxiliary reservoir has-a slot C therein approximating the shape of an ordinary key hole, the' o P t of the Slot being. i:
narrow and the upper part widened. By means of this provision the T-shaped end of the member H may be inserted through the slot, if the member is turned at about right angles to its normal position, and then turned, so that it is securely held by the engagement of its said extremit with the metal surrounding the slot and the engagement of the narrow portion of the T with the edges thereof, and then when the supporting ring vH and its bracket are in proper position, and the latter is secured to the-stationary frame a connection is formed which insures that the saidring and auxiliary reservoir, and main'reservoir supported onthe former, shall be in proper position and relation. This provision is of great advantagenot only because it insures the proper relationship of the parts inentioned, but because in making and assembling the reservoir parts the ringvD, bracketE- and :mem-
ber H maybe stamped ,or otherwise formed, and in'la'rge quantities, with absolute acuracy as to size andshape, andumted in any suitable manner, so as to form one piece:
in. effect, then mounted in position by simply passing the T-shaped endof the member through the: slotC whilefthe said parts are at approximately right angles to their normal position, then swinging them around to proper positionand secu-ringthe bracket to the stove frame. I
The means for positioningthe ply pipe G comprise a removable insert J fitted into a vertical apertureA, cut outof the lower portion of the end plate A 'andprovided with fiangesJ along its side edges, terminating in tonguesJ and small transverse slots A in the endplates receiving tliesetongues. The upper endgof the aperture' A has a substantially semi-circular recess A which receives theupper -side of the pipe Gr. l I
In assembling; these parts, the. pipe G, which has previouslybeensecured to the sub- ,tank 0, is passed through the aperturefA' and seated in the recess A andjthesub-tank and pipe therein secured in position by means of the arms F, whichrmayfirst be secured to the sub-tank and thenyin thislast operation secured to the end plate. This construction and arrangement enables the manufacturer to form and" connect these parts before applying them-to the stove.
The insert J is then placed in the aperture andthe tongues JL-which areslightly offset-.passed through theslots A and themsort or slide. pressed upwardly until the pipe is firmly clamped, andqthis part 1 then:.secured in position bymeans of screw bolts J passing through; the flanges of the insert and the endplate. The sinsertaor slide *Jfihas an inwardly turnedflangeJ. at its bottom,the sides of-which' overlie the bottom flange A ofrthe end plate,- so vtliatuini thisrmanner the main sup bottom flange is made substantially continuous and additional strength and support given to the-"structure;
