To all 20 iwm it may concern Be it known that we, GEORGE J; GENUNG and TVILBERT L. VVnLsH, citizens of the United States, residing at Beaver Falls and New Brighton, respectively, in the county of Beaver, State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and useful Sand Toy, of'which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to figured toys, and more particularly to toys of this character wherein the figures are caused to move simulating movements of'a human being.
The primaryobject of the, invention is to provide a toy of this character wherein the figures are moved by a novel mechanism, eliminating all spring and perishablestructures in the operation of the device.
A further object of the invention is the provision of gutters or the like for directing sand to the propelling wheel, forminga part of the operating mechanism,wh'ereby the weight of the volve.
l/Vith the foregoing and other objects in view which will appear asthe description proceeds, the invention resides in the combination and arrangement of parts and in the details of construction hereinafter described and claimed, it being understood that changes in the precise embodiment ofthe invention herein disclosed, may be made within the scope of what is claimed, without departing from the spirit of the invention. Referring to the drawings Figure 1 illustrates a front elevational view of a toy constructed in accordance with the present invention. Referring to the drawings in deta1l, the toy includes a box-like casing which is formed with a rear wall 5 and a front wall 6, the walls being spaced apart'to provide a compartment for the operating mechanism. Having thus described the invention, what is claimed asnew is 1 a 1. In a toy, a casing-including front and rearwalls, pivoted members supported by the front wall, a propelling wheel, a-m'emher including a pairof arms pivotally connected to the propelhng wheel, a pin extending from the propelling wheel and adapted'to contact with the arms, curved arms having connection with the pivoted members, ahrod connecting the curved arms to move the same, a gutter disposed between the front and rear walls, said gutter having an opening to permit the passage of sand therefrom, said opening adapted to direct sand to the propelling wheel for rotating the same, and a bracket for supporting the propelling wheel.

In a toy, a casing including front and rear walls, pivoted members connected to bers, a rod connecting the curved arrns spaced arms pivotally supported by the front wall, meanscarried by the propelling wheel and contacting with the spaced arms for moving the arms, means for connecting the spaced arms and rod, and means for directing sand to the propelling wheel for op erating the same.

In a toy, a casingincluding front and rear walls, a bracket member supported by the front wall, a propelling wheel supported by the bracket, a gutter supported by the front wall, said gutter including a trough, said trough having an opening, pivoted members supported adjacent to the front wall, pivoted arms for supporting the pivoted members, a rod having connection with, the arms, and means carried by the propellingwheel and contacting with the pivoted arms for causing the operation of the pivoted members.
