Description

J. W. WOODWARD.
GARMENT HANGER- APPLICATION FILED MAR. 28, 1921- Patented May 23,1922.
LM'TAU INVENTOR WWI- 3 GARMENT HANG-ER.
iai'aeea specification of Letters Patent. Fr -ta ented Mary g3, ltllmfiu Application filed March 28, 1921. Serial No. t56,305.
To all whom, it may concern:
Be it known that I, JOHN WILLIAM Wounwann, subject of the King of Great Britain, and residing at 2225 Waverley Street, in the city and district of Montreal, in the Province of Quebec, in the Dominion of Canada, have invented a new and useful Garment Hanger, of which the following is the specification.
The invention relates to garment hanger as described in the present specification and illustrated in the accompanying drawings that form part of the same. The invention consists essentially of a novel form of holder that automatically falls to engagement with the garment and is manually released.
The objects of the invention are to firmly hold the garment without making undesirable creases and at the same time insure ready and instant release; to eliminate spring wire holders and clamps; to decrease the cost of production, and generally to provide a simpleand effective garment hanger.
In the drawings Figure 1 is a perspective view of the hanger showing the leg portion oi: a pair oi: trousers held therein.
Figure 2 1s a cross sectional view of the hanger 1n its closed position.
Figure 3 is a cross sectional view of the hanger showing the holder released.
Like numerals of reference indicate correspending parts in each figure.
Referring to the drawings, the board or form the inclined sections and roller tracks 7.
The roller 8 is mounted on the tracks 7 and naturally :falls to the bottom thereof and rests against the tracks and the board 1.
The roller 8 is closed in by the end walls 9, which leave a "tree garment space between themselves and the board.
The trousers 10 are introduced into this space and the roller 8 is temporarily held 11 'J, but allowed to drop to hold the trouser end against the board 1 and it will be seen that no matter how hard the pull there can be no release until the linger is inserted to hold the roller from engagement, while the trousers are removed.
Many changes may be made to suit different uses and materials, but the main features will remain the same as pointed out in the claim for novelty following. i
What I claim is The combination of a coat hanger and a trousershanger in which the frame of the trousers hanger st *addles the coat hanger,
the latter projecting upwardly within. the, trousers hanger frame and having a suspension hook iirojecting thereifiroimsaid trousers hanger frame being rigidly secured to the hanger and having roller side guards and converging to said coat hanger to support a roller which forms the fastening member for the trousers.
Signed at Montreal, Quebec, Canada, this eighth day oi March, 1921.
JOHN WILLIAM WOODWARD.
