Another object of the invention is the provision of a checkhanger which may be formed from a single piece of material, shaped to provide an attachingbase, a hook and. a resilient hook closing arm, arranged so that the check may be easily attached, to a car or removed therefrom. when desired, but held against accidental removal.
Other objects and advantages of the invention will appear as the following description is read in connection with the accompanying' drawings.
in the drawings Figure 1 is an end. view of :1 car showing; the cheek hanger in position.
Vi gu re 2 is adetail perspective view of the check hanger removed.
'l inure .3 a plan view of: the blank on which the hanger ilormed.
Rotor-ring to the drawings in detail, wherein like characters of reference denote corresponding parts, the reference character 10 indicates a car of the type commonly used in mines.
The hanger which is designated at it is preferably formed of a. single piece of sheet metal and is cut to provide a base 12 and a relatively narrow extension 13 projectinr, from one end thereof, the said extension beingbent to provide a hook 141,-. The base 12 is cut on the dotted line '15 in Figure 3 and the materials surrounded by the cut is bent outward to provide a retaining arm or closure 16 for the hook. The free end of the arm 16 curved inwardly as indicated at 17, while the :tree end of the hook 14: is curved outwardly as shown at 18, so that the mine check 19 may be readily positioned upon the hook and will be held against accidental removal therefrom.
The invention is susceptible oi various changes in its form, proportions and minor details oi construction and the right is herein reserved to make such changes as properly fall within the scope of the appended claim.
Having described the invention what is claimed is A check holder for mine cars comprising a hanger formed of a single strip of metal and cut to provide a base, a relatively narrow extension projecting from one end of the base and being bent to provide a hook for said member, a retaining arm termed by the cut out portion of the base and the free end. of the arm being curved inwardly while the free end of the hook is curved ontwardly.
In testimony whereof we ailix our signatures. i
