APPHCAflON FILED OCT. 7. 1921- 1,414,266. Patented Apr-25,1922;
4 m 7 Y Z A? stove pipe from the flue opening. I 20- FRANK EDWARDS, or nesronswasnnveronfi To all w/mm'z't ma concern. I
Be it known that I, FRANK EDWARDS, a citizen of" the United States, residing at Easton, in the county of Kittitas and State of Washington, have-invented certain new and useful Improvements "in Pipe-Holder Flue Attachments; and I do hereby declar'e the following to be a full, clear,- and exaet'descriptionof the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make anduse the same.
This invention relates to pipe holder flue attachments and the object 'of'the' invention is to improve the construction of the pipe holders to permit them to be readily positioned in the flue opening of a chimney and supported therein in such amanner as to prevent the accidental displacement of th A further object of this invention is to improve the construction of stove pipe hold-i ers so as to provide a device, which maybe permanently attached within'a flue and provided with means for supporting one end of the stove opening. 1 V r A still further object of this invention'is to provide a stove pipe holder including thimble adapted to be positioned within a fine opening, anda clamping band secured to the pipe and having means engaging the pipe in alignment with the flue thimble for supporting the pipe within the thimble and in alignment with the flue open- 1n A still further object of this invention is to provide a stove pipe holder, which is equipped'with means whereby the stove pipe may be positioned in alignment with the flue opening in a quick and reliable manner.
vA still further object of this invention is to provide a stove pipe holder capable of re movably supporting a stove pipe in alignment with the flue opening in a quick and reliable manner.
A still further object of this invention is to provide a stove pipe holder of this character, which will be simple, practical and comparatively inexpensive in construction, and one that can be manufactured and sold at a low cost. 7
With these and other objects in view, the invention consists inthe novel combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter more fully described and claimed.

The peripheral edgelof the enlarged portion ,8 of the thimblel? is provided with a. plurality of relatively spaced integral 'latv erally extending lugs 14, and each lugflhas secured therein, a hook 15. of the bolt 17 and nut 18, and thus the band may be permanently and rigidly secured to the stove pipe 9. The band is provided with relatively spaced eyes 19, which have secured therein, one end of the coiled springs 20 as at 21. The free ends of the springs 20' are adapted to be removably arranged over the hooks 15, thus placing'the springsunder tension and normally urging the stove pipe 9 into the enlarged portion 8 of the thimble 7 at all times, and thus holding the stove pipein alignment with the'flue openingfi. In operation, the thimble 7 is first pushed into the flue opening 6 until the hooks 11 eh- I gage the inner wall of the flue 5 and the shoulder 13 engages the outer Wall of the chimney, thus securing the thimble within I the flue opening 6. The band 16 is then rigidly secured to the stove pipe 9 in the manner heretofore described and the springs 'proved pipe holder illustrating the applica Y 20 are pulled or placed under tension until their free ends can be lifted ov'er the hooks .15, and thus the stove pipe will always be urged into the enlarged portion 8 of the thimble 7 and permanently held in place against accidental displacement.
What is claimed is p 1.. A stove pipe holder comprising; a
thimble having one end reduced, spring hooks secured to and extending rearwardly from thereduced end of the thimble at diametrically opposite points and adapted to engage the wall of a flue, the peripheral edge of the enlarged end of the thimble being provided with relatively spaced laterally extending lugs, hooks on the lugs, a split 7 clamping band, means for adjustably securing the clamping bandto a stove pipe, and
springs having one end secured to the clamping band at diametrically opposite. points andtheir free ends removably secured to the hooks on the lugs of the thimble to retain a stove pipe in' the enlarged end of the thimb'le and against displacement therefrom.
'2. A pipe holder comprising a thimble, a
stove pipe received by the thimble, outwardly extendingiears on the thimble, and tension means secured to the pipe and to the- In testimony whereof I afiix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
