DEVICE FOR V0IiA'lILlZIING- DISINFECTANTS.
T 0 all whom it may concern: a
Be it known that I, VIo'roR iVnvTsoH, Jn, a citizen of the Swiss Confederation. residingat Zurich, Switzerland, have invented new and useful Improvements in Devices for Volatilizing Disinfectants, (for which I have filed applications in Switzerland May 25, 1920, and in Germany Nov. 29,
1920,) of which the following is a speeifica tion.
The present invention relates to new and improved means for disinfecting the respi' ratory tracts especially that portions thereof through which the air takes entrance in the human body. I
Itis well known that some ofthemost dangerous diseases are spread .by germs propagated by the air and that especially the said organs of the human body are, in-
fested with such germs. It is further well known that disinfectants in a gaseous state 'aremosteifective to extlrpate sa d germs n V the respiratory tracts;
One object of the invention is to provide means to generate such gaseous disinfec ants at any time and at any place; and a further object of the invention is to pro vide such means which might be carried in the pocket.
Other objects ofthe invention relate to' the particular construction of the parts I which will be more clearly set forth in the following specification.
. In order that my invention may be clearlv understood Ihave illustrated the same in the accompanying drawing wherein the novel device is shown in sectional"elevation.
The device shown comprises a small tu-.
bularbody 1 made of metal which contains a filling 2 of volatillzalole disinfectants or germicides for instance, menthol, formaldehyde, oleum pini, oleum terebinth, remeuies for asthma, either one of saidmeans or two or more 'of them suitably mixed. Any means may be'usedwhich when volatilized, has the desired disinfecting action. The tubular body. 1 is closed by a suitableclosure 7 and is fastened With-one end to a grip 6 made of wood or the like, heat insulating material, and the other endiscoveredwith some combustible material 3 for instance sulphur, resinous substances suchfl Such combustible materials are preferred which as-guaya resin, common resin, etc.
when burning give off disinfecting vapours.
Specification of Letters Patent.
-Patented Apr. -18, 1922.
Application filed IiIay'31, 1921. SerialNo. $74,021.
The fore end of the tubular body provided with a head 4 of fulminating material which may be ignited by friction. The tube 1 is further. provided witha bore 5 which passes through the grip 6. l
By striking the head 4 on a suitable sin.- face it ignites and the covering 3 burns. The heat generated thereby is transferred by the tube .1 to the filling 2 and thevapours escape through the hole 5. The vapours are inhaled.- The dimensions "of the device are such that a number of them may be easily carried in the pocket. e
The handle 6 may be loosely mounted on thetube 1 in such a mannerthat the hole 5 may be closed by displacingthe handle on the tube 1. The holes 5 may. 7 with, and the handle 6 beingopen in this case.
While I have herein shown a' single'em 1006111161113 of my invention it is manifest that changes may be made in the general form and arrangement of the the scope of the appended claims.
;What I wish to secure by Letters Paent is: i
be dispensed parts within 1. A device for volatilizing disinfectants comprising a metal container, volatilizable disinfectlng means 111 said container. combustible material on said container, means to ignite said combustible material by friction.
- 2. A device for volatilizinp; disinfectants comprising a metal container, volatilizable.
disinfecting means in said container. cornbustible mate-rlal'on said container. means to'ignite said combustible material by fric- I Y tion, said container. being tubular and provided with a heat insulated handle.
'3. A device forvolatilizing disinfectants comprisinga metal container, volatilize-bile 1 disinfecting, meansinsaid container, com-f bustlble material onsald container, 'meansfi.
to ignite saidcombustiblematerial by friction, said container being tulmlar' and prohandle being movable on saidftubular tamer substantially as descr bed..
in presence of a'witnes's.
gvio'ro'n WINTSCH, it.
In testimony whereof I aiiix my signature Witness GHR. MULLER.
