may!!! U N-ETE I s'r SIGN.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that'I, 'LLoYn E. VVIsE, a citi- V zen of the United States, residing at Julesbur in the county of Sedgwicl; and State of olorado, have invented certaln new and useful Improvements in Signs, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawlhe invention relates to signs and hasf0r its object to provide a sign particularly adapted for use on roadsides for d1splaying various detachable slgn members hav ing printed or written thereon, artlcles a farmer wants to buy, or .articles he desires to sell. Also to so construct such a sign that it may be easily read when approached from straight ahead or from a vehicle passing along the road adjacent saidslgn.
further object is to provide an angularly shaped sign, said angularly shaped sign having 1ts angularly dlsposed sides provided with struck out substantially triangularly shaped lugs, sald lugs being ill parallel relation to the sign and forming means for receiving extensions of detachable flexible strips forming signs, sa1d extensions being provided with curved corners adaptedito be forced behlnd the triangularly shaped struckout port ons, and forming means for preventmg upward displacement of the elongated strlps until considerable pressure is applied to the lower edges of the strips for forcing the same upwardly.
With the above and other objects in v ew the invention resides in the combination and arrangement of parts as hereinafter set forth, shown in the drawings, described and claimed,it being understood that changes in the precise embodiment of the invention may be made within the scope of what is claimed Without departing from the spirit of the invention.
In the drawings Figure 1 is a perspective view of the sign. V
.Figure 2 is a top plan view of the sign.
Figure 3 is a detail perspective view of a portion of the sign, showingone of the triangular shaped lugs for holding the end of one of the elongated sign. strips.
Figure 4' is a horizontal sectional vlew taken on line -4 of Figure 3. g I
Figure 5 is a perspectiveview of one of V the removable sign strips.

peferring tolth e drawings, the numeral v l designates asign' post -rectangularin horizontal cross section, and 2 a sign rectangu-.
lar shaped in horizontal cross section and secured to the post by means of screws 3. The's1gn'2 is formed preferably .from a single sheet of material and has itssides 4 dlsposed at rlght angles to each other, so.
that persons approaching in the direction of the'arrows a, b and 0 may'read thesign. The sign is of a type used in rural districts,
and has displayed thereon the name 5 of the owner, and'below said name information as to what theparty would like to buy or a sell, so that persons traveling over .theroad may be informed as to the wants of the owner. The items painted or otherwlse material, such for instance as heavy sheet metal. The strips are provided with extensions 7 angular in front elevation, thereby forming corners 8 which are curved inwardly, there being sufficient spring; action in" said corners when placed in engage wanted or for sale are t placed on elongated strlps 6 formed perferably from flexible .ment with the surface of the portions '4 i of the sign and forced therein, to flatten".
out and into the same plane as the body of the strips and-when the strips are forced downwardly behindthe triangularly shaped integral lugs 9, spring rearwardly through the triangularly shaped apertures 10 and hold saidstrips against, easy 'displacement. The apertures 10 have their upper edges 11 extending" upwardly and outwardly thereby forminga' camming ed e, which edge will assist in forcing the 7 tions 8 outwardly when the strips are forced upwardly for removal purposes. However under normal conditions the bentcornersS form means for preventingeasy displace. ment of the strips in an upwarddirection. The ends of thestrips 8 areso proportioned that their edges 12 will engage the "inner edge 13 of the triangular shaped'lugs 9 and the edge 14 ofithe projections 7 will engage the lug 9 at the point" 15 where it merges: into thelug 4; of the sign. This engagement willfeliminate longitudinal movelugs for supporting. elongated strips and ent porment of the strips and eliminate rattling that said 7 strips will be held against dis 7 placement. If so desired electric lights may be provided for reflecting light on the sign;
carried by said angularly disposed sections, said slgn strlps at their ends being provided with angularl-y tapered lugs ad aeent their upper edges, the lower corners of said lugs 15 "being bent inwardly, the upper edges of the triangularly shaped lugs inclining upwardly and rearwardly, said strips being formed from flexible material.
In testimony whereof I hereunto aflix my 20 signature.
