Be it known that 1, PAUL Mluwonii', a citizen of the United States, residing at liiansfield, in the county of Ric-bland and State of Ohio, have invented a new and useful Public Amusement Device, of which the following is a specification.

My invention relates to public amusement devices, and its object is primarily to provide means for such amusement by devices whereby the bombing of submarines and the like may be simulated in sport, and captures of such iioating vessels may sportively be realized and rewarded. It consists of simulating a running stream of water, having toy submarines and other toy vessels or objects floating in said stream; an elevated platform on the margins of said stream with bridge or bridges thereover, and means for dropping toy bombs, or other similar projectiles, from points above said stream, whereby said floating objects may be hit and captured by skillful manipulation of said projectiles, while passing underneath said points; and it further consists of means for carrying and for directing the course of said projectiles at said elevated points, and for discharging and returning the same to normal position at pleasure of the operator, all as hereinafter set forth and as stated in the appended claim.

My invention is illustrated by the accompanying drawings in which similar letters and figures of reference indicate like parts.

Referring thereto, Fig. 1 is a sectional plan view of my invention from a point directly above the same; Fig. 2 is a sectional side elevation of Fig. l, and showing a central structure and projectile operative devices; and Fig. 3 is an enlarged view of said devices, detached.

In the drawings, A is an elevated platform for spectators, and S, stairs leading thereto. The projectile b is preferably weighted, and is so constructed as to fall vertically; and is provided with a suitable spear head or similar means for piercing the floating object, and lifting it out of the water, as shown, 6 (5 Figs. 2 and 3. The securing of this result depends largely on the skill and sight of the operator, and herein lies the chief source of amusement. Rewards may be given to successful operators, and varied according to the character of the floating object struck.

I do not limit myself to the particular form of structure shown, and construction may be varied to suit locations, without departing from the scope of my invention.

Having thus fully described my invention l0 moved therealong to a predetermined po- .sition thereon directly above a floating objeet; and means for releasing said projectile instanter, at pleasure of the operator, substantially as set forth.
