The object of the invention is to arrange.
the pivot of the shackle on a disk which is coupled with the turnable central portion lof a round flat guiding member or guide-cylinder provided with the tumblers. By this arrangement an exceedingly high degree of security is attained without the provision of a bolt, because the disk which carries the shackle can only be turned after the pin tumblers havebeen positioned in the most accurate manner, and this, of' course, can nly be accomplished by using the proper ey. i v
A specially high degree of security can be attained by pivoting the link between a pair ofdisks and by arrang'ing a separate guide cylinder with pin ltumblers both at the front and the back of the said pair of disks.
A constructional form of a padlock according to the `invention is shown in the drawing in which Fig 1 is front view of thelock when) closed, w
Fig-.-2`shows the interior of the lock wlth i the shell removed. In this figure the pin tumblers of the guide cylinder arranged in front of the pair of disks are so positloned .as to allow the lock to be opened and the turnable central portion of the cylinder, to-
gether with the pair of disks, are turned through approximately an eighth ofA a revow lution.`
Fig. 3 shows a similar view of the 111V- ternalV parts, but with the shackle fully opened. i

'on of the. 10015611 a Fig. 11 is a front view of one of the guidecylindersfprovided with the tumblers.`
Fig. 12 is a plan of the guide-cylinder shown in Fig. 11. ,i
Fig. 13 shows the interior of the lock with the shell removed. In this figure the guidecylinderarranged in front of the pair of disks carrying the pivot of the shackle is partly shown 1n section.
The shackle b is pivoted on a pin a that is fixed betweenfthe two disks c, c ri idly fixed to each other. Arranged at the front and rear of the pair'of Vdisks a, c are round fiat guiding members or guide-cylinders d, cl eachhaving a central portion e that is turnable in a known manner, whilst the outer annular portion is fixed in the shell of the lock or on its sheet metal base' Arranged in the pair of disks c, c are four pins f whose projecting front and rear ends are fixed in the front and back guide cylinders 03 so that the pair of disks o, c can only be turned together with the central parts of the two guide cylinders d, and a turning of the pair of disks can only take place after have been most accurately positioned.
When thepin tumblers have been propi erly positionedby the insertion of the correct key g Ifurnished with four bits, the key when turned will carry around the two central portions e, e and the pair of disks o, c
seini-circular shackle will first be lifted until its front limb'is raised clear of the rim 'attached thereto'by the pins f, wherebythe of the lock case (see Fig. 2), and subse quently, when the key is turned further around and the shackle Strikes against the edge of the aperture in the rirn, lt Will be swung back into its fully opened position (F ig. A backward turn of the key will cause the shackle Z) to swing round in the opposite drection.
By increasing the number of pintumblers in the guide cylinders the degree of security of this type of lock may be further enhanced.
I claim:
1. In a padlock; a turnable disk; a sha'ckle pivoted on the said disk; a guide cylinder comprising a fixed portion and `a central rotary portion coupled With the said disk; and tumblers cooperating with the fixed and rotary portions of the said guide cylinder and adapted to prevent the movement of the rotary portion and the turnable disk except disks; a guide cylinder at the back of the pair of dsks; each guide vcylinder comprising a fixed portion and a central rotary portion coupled with the said disks; and tumblers cooperating With the fixed and rotary portions of the said guide cylinders and adapted to prevent the movement of, the
rotary portions and the turnable disks except Whenoperated by a proper key. i
In testimony Whereof'I have signed my name to this specification.
