Description

CHARLES M. MUNSON, OF GREENFIELD, MASSACHUSETTS.
IMPROVEMENT IN CARRIAGE-CURTAIN KNBS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 1&O,723, dated July 8, 1873; application filed May 23, 1873.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, CHARLES MoRRIs MUN- soN, of Greenfield, in the county of Franklin and State of Massachusetts, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Knobs make and use it, reference being had to the accompanying drawings which form part of this specification.
The nature of my invention relates to an improvement in knobs for carriage-curtains; and it consists in applying a tube or colla-r and a Washer to a tack having a finished broad head, so as to form a cheap, simple,`and ornamental. knob, as Will be more fully described hereafter. i
Figure 1 shows the knob complete. Fig. 2 shows the parts in detail.
l represents an ordinary tack, provided with the enlarged finished head 2. Over this tack is slipped a small tube or collar, 3, which rests between the head 2 and the convex Washer 4, and which forms the body of the knob. This tube gives greater holding space for the curtain, and also gives a much neater appearance and a greater resemblance to a knob.
Tacks have heretofore been made with simply a conical Washer, which pressed up against the head of the tack; but these do not give sufficient space for the curtain, and are very objectionable upon that account.
l am aware that the shape of the knob here shown is not new, the same having been produced by placing on a large-headed nail a flanged cap and flanged collar combined with other devices; but never before has a tack or nail been combined with a collar and Washer so as to form a complete knob, as here shown.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
A carriage-curtain knob, composed of the tack or nail l having the nished head 2, collar 3, and Washer 4f, the parts being arranged and combined substantially` as shown and described.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing l have hereunto set my hand this 21st day of May, 1873.
GHAS. MORRIS MUNSON.
hilitnesses ERNEsr BARBER, J. M. MUNsoN.
