Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. llllgl, dated July 8, 1873; application filed June 21, 1873.
To all whom it may concern:
Beit known that I, FLORIAN GROSJEAN, of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Table DishStands, of which the following is a specification:
I propose to maire stands or trays for use on the table for holding dishes, of sheet or east metal covered with an enamel of porcelain, and mounted in wood, metal, papier-mach, or other frames, as asuostitute for the mats and trays now used. i
Figure 1 is a plan view of a stand such as I propose to make, and Fig. 2 is a longitudinal sectional elevation.
A represents the metal top, with the upper surface enameled with porcelain. It is in this example, elliptic in form, and mounted on a wood backing, B, in a stamped or spun frame, G, of metal, and supported on short legs D; but the backing,fra1ne, and legs may be mcdied in Aany manner that may be desired. The legs maybe dispensed with entirely, if desired. Theframe may he made of wood, and may be .made together with the back, or separate.
The essential feature ol the invention is: stand or tray for dishes, of which the top o: plate is composed of metal with a porcelau eover or enamel, the enamel being to concea the iron or give it a ne finish, and form th ground-work for fine picture ornamentatlol by the deealeomanic or other process.
I propose to make these articles iu all form and sizes that may he required, Whether for: single dish or many.
Having thus described my invention, 1 elain as new and desire to secure by Letters Pai ent- A dish stand or tray for the table, compose of a metal plate having its upper surfa enameled with. porcelain, and mounted in metal, wood, or other frame, either with o without a backing of wood, and whethe mounted on legs or not, substantially as spec lied.
