IMPROVEMENT IN WASH-BOILET? ATTACHMENTS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 140,546, dated July 1, 1873 application filed November 15, 1872.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ISABELLA O. SOHRAMM,
- of Des Moines, in the county of Polk and State the under side, in the manner hereinafter fullyset forth.
Figure l of my drawing is a perspective View, showing the upper side of my attachment.
A A is the sheet-metal plate. The central part is sunken by press and dies in a manner common to wash boilers. The perforations may be made by any suitable means, and may vary in size and number, but should be at regular intervals between the bars. 1 2 3 4 represent a series of bars, formed by doubling strips of tin. They are placed across the sunken portion of the plate A A, and soldered fast at the ends. The plate is designed to rest on feet, and to produce a water-chamber between the plate and the bottom of the boiler. These bars are designed to keep the mass of clothing from a portion of the plate, and to form a second water and steam chamber within the first and larger water-chamber.

I claim as my invention- A washing device, composed of the plate A A with fixed feet a a, and a depressed perforated center, and a series of bars, 1 2 3 4, over the depressed part, substantially as described, and for the purposes specified.
