Said book also comprises a pair of clamping bars 12 (Fig. 6), one on each side of said pack of leaves at said inner edges and each provided with lrey holes 13 at one end with looking openings registering with the middle perforation l0 and one of the side perforations 11. Obviouslythis hinged plate may be omi ted and the strips 25 and 26 extended to or near the upper edge of the rear wall 22 whether the rear wall is the same height as the other walls or not.

The leaves or sheets are thentaken up one by one or in groups and deposited'in the forward part of the tray with their tabs on either the one side or the other of the posi tioniue bar -50. 7

All of the sheets on which items are entered are off-set with their tabs on one side otthe positioning: har,. and those on which items are not so entered placed face down with their tabs on the other side of-the bar, the offset sheets may he examined for iii cation or may be otherwise treated as occasion may require.

After all ofthe sheets have been placed in theferward part of the tray, the rear cover board is placed thereon, the posts replaced and locked, either with or without leaving the leaves off-set from each other, since there are only two postsand they always valine with the middle perforationand one of the side perforations. After the posts are thus locked in place, the doors 5% are opened and the bound looseleaf book reinoved the openings 49 permittingr one hand to grasp the inner edge of the book.

Obviously, the operation elf-setting of the loose-leaves, or other features of the invention will be found useful in many operations other than those relating to accounting.

1. In combination, downwardly and forwardly inclined rear supporting strips; an upwardly and forwardly inclined transverse rear supporting plate having its rear edge engaging the lower end of said strips, with openings forming therebetween a locating bar transverse to the plate; a'downwardly and forwardly inclined forward supporting plate extending .rom the upper edge of said rear plate and provided with openings forming a positioning bar joining said locating bar; upwardly and forwardly inclined forward supporting strips extending from the lower edge of the forward plate; and guide panels slightly spaced from the forward strips.

2. In combination, front, rear and side walls; a pair of forwardly and downwardly inclined supporting strips secured to the inner face of said side walls and having their upper ends meeting the upper edge of said rear wall and the front end extending to near the bottom edge of the side walls about a fourth of the length of the side wall from the rear wall, the lower end portion of one of said strips being trough-shaped and opening inwardly to form an upper guide above and parallel to the supporting strip and spaced therefrom about the thickness of the cover board of a loose-leaf book; a forwardly and upwardly inclined transverse rear supporting plate secured between said side walls and engaging the lower end of said strips; a downwardly and forwardly inclined forward supporting plate joining said rear plate; and forwardly and upwardly inclined forward supporting means forward of said forward plate.

3. In combination, side members; a pair of forwardly and downwardly inclined supporting strips secured on the inner face of said side members, a portion of one of said strips being trough-shaped and opening inwardly to form an upper guide above and parallel to the supporting strip and spaced therefrom; and a forwardly and upwardly inclined transverse rear supporting member having its rear edge disposed near the lower end of said strips.

In combination, side walls; front and rear walls; downwardly and forwardly inclined rear supporting strips secured thereto and a forwardly and upwardly inclined transverse rear supporting plate secured between said side walls with its lower edge flanged and engaging under the lower end of said strips and its upper edge nearly midway between the front and rear walls, slightly nearer the rear wall, said plate being provided with a pair of separated openings thereby forming therebetween a locating bar adapted to engage tabs of looseleaves of a loose-leaf book resting on said strips with its inner edge against said plate.

5. In combination, downwardly and forwardly inclined rear supporting means; and a forwardly and upwardly inclined transverse rear supporting plate having its lower edge near the lower part of said means, said plate being provided with a pair of separated openings, thereby forming a locating bar transverse to said plate.

6. In combination, rear and side walls; forwardly and downwardly rear supporting strips on the inner face of the side walls, one of said side walls being cut away above the supporting strip to form a lrey receiving opening; and an upwardly and forwardly inclined rear supporting plate between said side walls and joining said strips.

7. In combination, side walls; forwardly and downwardly rear supporting means on the inner face of the side walls, said side wall above said means being cut away to form a key receiving opening; and a supporting member near the forward part of said means.

8. In combination, side walls; and supporting means mounted between said walls, one of said side walls above said means being cut away to form a key receiving openmg,

In combination, a pair of side walls; a rear end wall having its upper edge lower than the upper edges of the other walls; forwardly and downwardly inclined rear supporting strips secured to said side walls and joining the upper edge of said rear vall; an upwardly and forwardly inclined rear supporting plate between said side walls and joining said strips; a hinged plate hinged to the upper edge of said rear wall in the plane thereof and adapted to fold over against said supporting strips; and a binding wire beadedin the upper and side edges of said hinged plate and having a guide extension extending down against the outer face of the rear wall when the hinged alinement with said supportin strips when the hinged plate rests on the strips.

10. In combination, forwardly and downwardly inclined supporting means; an upwardly and forwardly inclined rear supporting member extending from near said means; a hinged member adapted to fold over against said supporting means; and guide extensions secured to said hinged member and extending down when the hinged member is up, and extending approximately in alinement with said supporting means when the hinged member rests on said means.

In combination, a tray comprising front and side walls; rear supporting means in the rearof the tray; an upwardly and forwardly inclined rear supporting plate between said side walls and joining said means and provided with a locating bar; a forwardly and downwardly inclined supporting plate supported between said sidewalls and extending from the upper'edge of said rear supporting plate and extending the lower edges of the side walls and provided with a pair of manipulating openings formingtherebetween a positioning bar joining said locating bar; and forward supporting means extending from near the lower part of the forward plate .to near the upper part of the front wall.

13. In combination, side walls; rear supporting means at the rear of the walls; a rear supporting member between said side walls and forward of said means; a .forwardly and downwardly inclined supporting plate supported between said side walls and extending from near the upper part of said rear supporting member and provided with a pair of manipulating openings and a positioning bar transverse to the plate; and forward supporting means near the forward edge of the plate.

14. In combination, side walls; rear supporting means at the rear of the walls; a rear supporting member between said side walls and forward of said means; a forwardly and downwardly inclined supporting'plate supported between said side walls and extending from near the upper part of said rear supporting member and provided with a pair of manipulating openings and a positioning bar transverse to the plate; and forward supporting strips extending upwardly from the'forward edge of the plate, one of said side walls being provided with a key hole above and near the meeting point p of said strips withtheplate.

15. In combination, side walls; a forwardly and downwardly inclined supporting plate supported between said side walls; and

forward supporting means near the forward edge of the plate, one of said side walls being provided with a key hole above the lower edge of said plate, and an opening above said key hole.

16'. In combination, side walls; a forwardly and downwardly inclined supporting plate supported between said side walls; and forward supporting means near the forward .awayfrom the edge of the cover board.

18. In combination, sidewalls; supporting member disposed between the side walls;

and inclined supporting strips remotely spaced apart to leave a wide open space therebetween and supported on the inner face ofthe side walls and extending downwardly to near the lower edge of said member; said side walls serving to position looseleaves on said strips. f
