IMPROVEMENT IN BATH-TUBS.

Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 139,995, dated June 17} 1873 application filed December 6, 1872.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, LoUIs BAGGER, of Washington city, in the county of Washing-- ton and District of Columbia, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Bath- Tubs; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, that will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings and to the letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of lar edge, continued either all the way round 7 or only along a portion of the top of the tub. In manyinstan ces one or more sides of the bathtub, when placed in the position in which to be used, abut upon the wall or walls of the room or alcove in which placed, in which cases the edge maybe discontinued along that portion of the tub, and placed only upon and along the free side of the tub, for the purpose set forth below. This edge or guard is destined to prevent water in the tub from splashing over the sides, as, by its peculiar shape, the water, when set in motion by a bather or from other causes, will be thrown back into the tub, thus pre' venting spilling on the floor, a nuisance which cannot well be guarded against in bath-tubs of the ordinary description.

I therefore claim as my invention- The overturned, convex, or angular top edge of the bath-tub c 0, continued either all the way round or only upon and along a portion of a bath-tub, substantially as and for the purpose hereinbefore set forth.
