To all miic/1a t may concer/a lie it known that l, lliiimr BRUNEL lnnwis, a citizen of the United States of america, residing at New York city, borough of Brochlyn, in the county of Kings and l'fltate of New illorlr, have invented certain new and useful improvements in Loose-Leaf Bind ers, of Which the following` is a speiiiilication.

My invention relates to loose-leaf binders, and particularly to improved means for securingto the binder cover the bach plate of the binder mechanism.

A suitable adhesive or cement applied either to the face of i the back plate or to the flaps 11 and 12 serves to secure the flaps to the back plate, against which they are firmly pressed by the base of the binder mechanism when the latter is attached to the back plate` The flaps 11 and 12 are thus held in position, not only by the i adhesive, but by the mechanical engagement of the base of the binder mechanism. The anchor strip 7 `thus supports not only the back plate 8, but also the binder mechanism. rfhe thread for the stitching 1() is of any suitable strength to meet the demands upon the appliance, and `the spacing of the stitches is such that the needle holes do not i pierce the cover so closely as to appreciably weaken the latter. (lbviously the spacing of the stitches may vary with the material of the cover, fabric permittinga closer spacing; of the stitches than leather Without affecting the mechanical strength of the cover.

The underlying thought of the invention is to secure the binder mechanism supporting plate to the cover by means of a fabric strip stitched to the back of the cover, and li do not limit-my invention to the precise form and arrangement of parts shown in the accompanying drawings.

I claim as my invention- 1. In a loose-leaf book, a cover, a back plate for supporting' abinder mechanism arranged Within the back of the book, and a fabric stitched to the cover and underlying,- said back plate, the opposite margins of said fabric being folded back over the back plate to hold the latter in position.
