Specification of Letters Patent.

To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, MORGAN EVANS, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Pittston, in the county of Luzerne and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and useful Vise-Stand, of which the following is a specification.

My invention relates to vise stands and has as its principal object the provision of a stand of this character which may be folded or collapsed when not in use and which can be readily set up for use.

A further object of the invention is to provide a foldable vise stand that can be readily folded in compact form for storage or carrying and when set up will be strong and rigid.

With the preceding and other objects and advantages in mind, the invention consists in the novel combination of elements, construction and arrangement of parts and operations to be hereinafter more fully described, claimed and illustrated in the accompanying drawing, wherein:

Figure 1 is a side elevation of my invention, the dotted lines indicating the stand collapsed;

Fig. 2 is a fragmentary top plan View, parts being broken away; and

Fig. 3 is a fragmentary elevation taken at right angles to Fig. 1.

Referring in detail to the drawing where- I in similar characters of reference designate similar parts throughout the several views,

the numeral 5 designates a platform or shelf upon which a vise (not shown) is to be mounted. The platform or shelf 5 is formed with a forwardly disposed side flange 6 and an intermediate flange? that extends at right angles to the flange 6. Pivotally connected with the side flange 6, as at 8, is a pair of supporting legs 9 while an intermediate leg 10 is pivoted to the flange 7 Carried by the legs 9 and 10 at their upper ends are longitudinally extending plates 11 each of which is provided with an offset bearing 12 which extends upon the inner side of the

flanges

6 and 7 and is pivotally connected with the pivots 8 of the legs 9. The supporting legs terminate, at their ends, in laterally extending feet 13 to be secured to the floor by fastenings 14.

A pair of braces or links 15 is pivotally connected at their outer ends with the legs 9 while a pair of spaced links or braces 16 is disposed at right angles to the braces 15 and have their outer ends pivoted to the leg 10 and their inner ends pivotally connected with an eye-bolt 17, the shank of the latter being extended through the inner ends of the braces 15 to pivotally connect the latter together. One of the braces or links 15 is provided with an outwardly extending horizontal flange 18, one end of which overlies the inner end of the other link or brace 15 and is adapted to engage the same to limit the pivotal movement of these links in one direction.

It will be seen that I have pro-vided a vise stand that can be conveniently folded when not in use and may be readily set up for use.

It is to be understood that the form of my invention herein shown and described is to be taken as a preferred example of the same, and that various changes in the shape,

size and arrangement of parts may be resorted to without departing from the spirit of the invention or the scope of the subjoined claim. 7

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure and protect by Letters. Patent of the United States, is

A stand comprising a platform, a down wardly and forwardly disposed flange carried thereby, a second flange carried by the stand and extending at right angles to the first mentioned flange, a plurality of legs having their upper ends positioned against one face of the flanges, an ofl-set bearing carried by each of the links at its upper end and positioned against theopposite face of the flanges, pivots extending through the MORGAN EVANS.
