as to prevent it from being turned for open-` ing the door.
The accompanying drawings show three forms of construction by way of example, the various Figures 1 to 10 being: r
Fig.l 1, a face view of the lock with its cover removed; Fig. 2, an elevation of parts secured to the cover plate, which latter is shown in broken lines; Fig.` 3, a horizontal section of the lock; Fig. 4, a vertical section on line A-B of Fig. 1; Fig. 5, a face view of a locking device for the lock-bolt; Fig. 6, a plan of Fig. 5; Figs. 7 to 9 being detailed hereinafter referred to; Fig. 10 is a detail also hereinafter referred to.
The lock casing l carries two spindles 2, 3 disposed in yaxial line, and fitted with knobs 4 and 5 respectively. To the inner ends of the spindles are fixed levers 6 and 7 respectively having spurs 8, 9. A pin 10 is turnably mounted in the casing 1 and car-` ries a fixed slotted disk 11 having three Slots 11 in which the spurv8 can engage. The pin 10 has fast on it a star-wheel`12 of six points, a stop pawl 13, pivoted on a pin 14, retains the wheel under pressure of a spring 15. A bore 16 in the bolt 50 houses a helical spring 17 pressing with its rear against a bracket 18. A tail piece 19 of thebolt 50 is formed with a shoulder 20 perforated to receive a transverse pin 21 that` is guided ina slot 22. The cover plate 21* has a slot 23 through which protrudes a bolt 51 to which is fixed a slide 24. The bolt 51 carries a coiled spring 52 that presses against the cover 21* and kept on the bolt 51 by a cross-pin 53.
The operation is as follows v On turning the outer handle 4 for opening the door, the lever 6 pulls back the lockbolt 50. As the spur 8 of the lever 6 is adjacent a slot 11 of the disk 11, the said lever can turn. In releasing the handle 4, the bolt 50 locks under pressure of the spring 17. The lock-bolt 50 is blunt and square so that merely Pushing the .deer will 110i Close Specification of Letters Patent.

it. The inner handle 5 must be turned to cause the lever 7 to withdraw the lock-bolt 50 before the door can be pushed home. By turning the lever 7, the spur 94 strikes the star-wheel 12 and turns same one tooth, thus bringing a plain sector of the disk 11 adjacent the spur 8 and blocking the lever 6 and outer handle 4. Now the handle 4 cannot be turned at the outside and the door cannot be opened from without. In turning the inner handle for opening the door, the parts 11 and 12 are turned one-sixth so that the spur 8 of lever 6 is then in front of a slot 11 and cany be turned by the other handle so long as the inner handle is not turned again for locking the door. The blocking of the outer handle 4 can be suspended by pushing the slide 24 on the cover 51 in upward direction thereby causing the star-wheel 12 to turn so as to be free of the spur 9 of the lever 7. The slots 11 are larger than the spur 8 andthe latter has space to move to and fro. The two handles 4 and 5 can now separately turn.
For completely stopping the lock, a further device is provided as shown in Figs. 5 and 6. Over the protruding pin 21, of the lock-bolt, moving in the slot 22, there is placed a disk 27 having an open slot l27 corresponding to the width Vof the slot 22 in the casing. The disk 27 has a rim 28 with three notches 28 therein and two internal pegs 32 and 32 respectively. Around the disk 27 is a ring 34 held by two studs 35, 35 and has a covering disk 36, also held by the studs 35, 35', the whole being secured by a screw 37 to the casing 1. The disk 36 has an aperture 38 with diametral slots 39, 39'. On a stud 30 is mounted a pawl 29 and a spring 31 keeps the pawl against the disk 27. The key 33 has two heels 40, 41 and a notch 41. To block the bolt 50. the key 33 is introduced in the aperture 38 with the notch 41eover the bolt-pin 21 and the heels 40, 41 adjacent the pins 32, 32. By turning the key clockwise the disk 27 makes a turn so that the slot 27 turns 90 degrees. The lock-bolt is now blocked and neither handle can be turned. The turning of the disk 27 enables the pawl 29 to engage the notch 28 and so stop the disk in this position after withdrawal of the key. For opening .the lock, the key is used to turn the disk 27 so as to make the slot 27 coincide with slot 22.
I claim:
l.. A door lock comprising a bolt, inde`1 pendently operable handlesfor operating said bolt, separate @lined spindles connected With seid handle, aspur lever connected With each spindle at its inner end for ndepend= ently retreating said bolt and a'rotary means for controlng lthe operation of said bolt by said levers.V
2. A door lock comprising a bolt, nde-y pendently operable handles for Operating said bolts, separejjepsrlned spindles c0nneeted with said handles, a spur lever connected `-with each Vspindle at its inner end for independently retraetng'sd bolt, .and a keyoperavi'fedrblockng device for Ithe door bolt.
