Be it known that I, IIERHAN H. Hrrrnn- BERGER, citizen of the United States, residing at Oakland, in the county of Alameda and State of California, have invented certain new ant. useful Improvements in Trusses, of which the following is a specification.
This invention is an improved truss which draws the pad inwardly with direct pressure against the rupture without drawing the belt too tight around the body and upon the spine.
The invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawing which forms a part of this specification and the appended claims.
Figure 1 is a perspective view of the truss.
Fig. 2 is a plan view of the truss showing its application to the body of t 1e wearer in dotted lines,
Fig. 3 is a fragmentary view of the crotch strap connecting and fastening means.
In the drawing, 1 indicates a rigid bar bent inwardly at its ends which may be of steel covered with leather. A pad 2 is pivoted by pivot screw 3 to the inside of the bar 1. To one end of said bar is secured one end of an elastic belt at. T0 the other end of said belt is connected an adjustable loop strap 5 which extends through a slot 6 in one member of a fastener 7 which fastens the extremity of the strap to the other end of the bar 1. The forward end of a crotch strap 8 is connected to the lower portion of the pad 2, while the rear end said strap is buckled by buckle 9 to the lower end of a loop strap 10 through which the belt 4 extends, said loop being reversible.
lVhen my pad is worn, the belt draws laterally on the bar 1 and draws the pad against the rupture by a direct inward pressure without "the necessity of drawing the belt too tightly around the body and upon the spine.
The strap 10 is buttoned to the belt a by sanp button 11 preferably at a point nearest thet end of the belt which is secured to the bar 1.
Having described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
1. A reversible truss comprising a single rigid bar having a substantially straight portion of its length to lie across the abdomen and having one end curved to partially extend around either side of the body and conform to the contour thereof to cooperate therewith for positioning a truss pad in either of the reversible positions of said truss, a truss pad on the inside of the straight portion of the bar and located thereon relatively to its curved end to lie opposite the rupturable tissues on one side of the abdomen, and a belt connected to the ends of said bar to extend around the body for drawing the pad gainst the rupture.
2. A rversible truss comprising a single rigid bar having a substantially straight portion of length to lie across the abdomen and having one end curved to partially extend around either side of the body and conforming to the contour thereof to cooperate therewith for positioning the truss pad in either of the reversed positions of said truss, a single truss pad on the inside of the bar and located thereon relatively to its curved end to lie opposite the rupturable tissues on one side of the abdomen, a belt con nected to the ends of said bar to extend around the body for drawing the pad against the rupture, a perineal strap having one end connected to the pad, and means for detachably securing the other end of the perineal strap to the immediate side portion of the belt and against sliding movement relatively the belt, whereby the perineal strap will extend substantially diagonally of the belt and around he rear of the leg, and means permitting the strap to be tightened and loosened.
