CHARLES W. MOSHEB, OF
CATTARAUGUS, NEW YORK.
Application filed December To all whom it may concern:
Be it lrnown that I, CHARLES W. MOSHER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Cattaraugus, in the county of Cattaraugus and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in an Air Moistening and Distributing Device, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to air moistening and distributing devices, and has for one of its objects to provide a simply constructed portable device adapted to be disposed in the path of heated air currents and operating to moisten and distribute the same as they rise.
W'ith these and other objects in view, the invention consists in certain novel features of construction as hereinafter shown and described and then specifically pointed out in the claims, and in the drawings illustrative of the preferred embodiment of the invention.
Figure 1 is a perspective view from beneath, of the improved device,
Fig. 2 is a vertical section of the same.
The improved device is designed to be disposed adjacent to or over a register for heated air which is discharged from a furnace or the like and located in a floor or wall near the floor, and comprises a container for a moisture disseminating fluid, a combined distributing and deflecting member associated with the container and operating to moisten and distribute the heated air as it passes through the register or other discharging element.
The container may be of any shape or capacity, but for the purpose of illustration, is shown in cylindrical form as at 10 and closed at the lower end and with a plurality of transverse apertures 11 near the upper end. Bearing upon the upper end of the container is a combined deflecting and distributing member 12 having a downturned margin 13.
The member 12 is supported from the con tainer by braces 1%, while similar braces or supports. 15 extend from the container to bear upon the floor, represented at 16, the lower end of the braces 15 being outturned as at 17 to increase the stability.
The member 12 is provided with an opening 18 in which a detachable closure 19 fits. The opening 18 provides means whereby the Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Oct. 25, 1921.
18, 1920. Serial No. 431,889.
moisture disseminating fluid is supplied to the container.
The improved device is thus portable and can be easily disposed over a hot air register, represented conventionally at 20, and as the heated air rises a part is radiated into tr e fluid in the container and produces a vapor which passes out through the openings 11 and comrningles with the heated air which passes up around the container and against the lower face of the member 12 and is deflected by the drop flange 13 and thus retarded to certain extent to give the moistened and heated air time to be thoroughly commingled and thence distributed laterally before it rises toward the ceiling.
The improved device is simple in construction, can be manufactured of any size or capacity and of any suitable material and is very eflicacious to moisten and uniformly distribute the heated air radiated from a furnace or other air heating apparatus.
The preferred embodiment of the invention is disclosed in the drawings and set forth in the specifications, but it will be understood that any modifications within the scope of the claims may be made in the construction without departing from the principle of the invention or sacrificing any of its advantages.
1 claim 1. A. device of the class described comprising a container for a moisture disseminating fluid, a distributing and deflecting member extending over the container and having a downturned margin, braces between said ccntainer and distributing and deflecting member, and supports carried by said container to engage the floor upon which the container rests.
2. A device of the class described comprising a container for a moisture disseminating fluid, a distributing and deflecting member extending over the container and having a downturned margin, and with an opening communicating with the container, a closure f the opening, braces between said container and distributing and deflecting member, and supports carried by said container to engage the floor upon which the container rests.
In testimony whereof, I aflix my signature hereto.
CHARLES W. MOSHER.
