LAUNDRY-TUB FAUCET.

To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, EDWIN G. EvnNs'rA and HENRY J. ANDERSON, both citizens of the United States, residing at Minneapolis, in the county of Hennepin and State of Minnesota, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Laundry- Tub Faucets; and we do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of. the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
Our invention has for its object to provide a simplified and improved laundry tub faucet, provided with a swinging nozzle and having a simple and efficient clamp adapting it to be securely attached to a laundry tub. without defacing the tub and without the use of pipe support other than the said clamp. 7
Generally stated, the invention consists of the novel devices and combination of devices hereinafter described and defined in the claims.
In the accompanying drawings which illustrate the invention, like characters indicate like parts throughout the several views.
Referring to the drawnigsz Figure 1 is a plan view of a laundry tub showing the improved faucet applied thereto, some parts being broken away;

The numeral 7 indicatesan ordinary twocompartment laundry tub. The numerals 8 and 9 indicate, respectively, the hot and cold water pipes which lead to the faucet.
The lower ends of these pipes 8 and 9 are provided with coupling unions 10 by which they are connected to the externally threaded upstanding nipples 11 of the horizontally disposed body tube 12 which, at its central Specification of Letters Patent.

portion, has a third upstandingexternally threaded nipple 13. The ends of the nipples 11 are in communication with the interior of the tube 12 through ports 14 adapted to be opened and closed, at will, by valves 15 carried by the inner ends of valve stems 16. The valve stems 16 have threaded portions 17 that work with threaded engagement in the outer end extension of the tube 12 so that the valves will be opened and closed by rotary movement. The end extensions of the tube 12 are tightly closed around the valve stems by glands 18, and said valve stems, at their outer end, have detachable operating levers 19.
The clamp comprises two forked bracket or clamp'sections or members 20and 21, the former of which is cast integral with the tube 12, and the latter of which is detachable therefrom. Adjacent to its connection with the tube 12, the bracket 20 has a flat surface 20 formed with a longitudinal slot 20*. At its upper portion, the bracket 21 has an offset flange 21 and a further offset L-shaped lock lug 21". The flange 21 is adapted to bear against the flat surface 20% and the angular lock lug 21 is adapted to be inserted through the slot 20 by an endwise rocking movement and to be securely interlocked therewith when the two brackets or members are secured together.
To rigidly, but detachably, connect the two brackets 2021 together and to cause the prongs thereof to tightly clamp one edge of the tub on opposite sides of the partition of the tub, machine screws 22 are passed through perforations 23 in the fiat surface 20 of bracket 20, and are screwed into internally threaded bosses 24 of the bracket 21. Thus the faucet structure is adapted to be securely anchored to the tub, and when thus anchored, will support the lower ends of the hot and cold water supply pipe.
The swinging nozzle 25 is shown as provided with a short swivel tube 26 screwed into the receiving end thereof, and at its lower end, having an annular flange 27 tightly seated against the upper end of the central nipple 13. The gland 28 screwed onto the nipple 13 and against the packing 28 seated on the flange 27, forms a water tight joint and yet holds the nozzle 25 with freedom for swinging movement from one compartment to the other of the tub. With this arrangement, hot and cold water, separately or simultaneously, may be delivered to either compartment of the tub.
This improved faucet structure, while of simple form and of small first cost to manufacture, is efficient for the purpose had in view, has few parts capable of getting out of order, and may be very easily repaired, when repairs become necessary.
WVhat we claim is: Y
1. A faucet structure comprising a body tube with hot and cold-water pipe-connections and cooperating valves at its ends, a swinging nozzle connected to the intermedi ate portion of said body tube, and a tub -en-- gaging clamp made up of two brackets one of which is integral with said body tube-and the other of which is detachably connected thereto, said brackets being laterally off-set in respect to each other and in respect to the body tube;

A faucet structure comprising abody'- tube with hot andcold water pipe'connections and cooperating valves at its end, a swingmg nozzle connected tothe lntermediate portion of said body tube, and a tub engaging clamp made up of two bra'ckets one of which is formed as a part'of said swinging nozzle applied to said intermediate nipple, valves working in the opposite ends of said body tube for independently controlling thehot and cold water supply to the interior thereof and to said nozzle, a'clamping bracket formed integral with said body tube and comprising aflat portion and depending clamping prongs, said flat portionhaving a slot, a detachable clampingbracket having depending clamping-prongs and an offset flange with a still further offset approxi mately L-shaped lock lug, said lock lug being engageable-with the-slot of said first noted bracket, and screws connecting the "two bracket members. 1
