IMPROVEMENT IN COOKING-RANGES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 139,187, dated May 20, 1873; application filed March 17, 1873.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, J. LOUIS PFA'U, Jr., of Quincy, in the county of Adams and State of Illinois, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Cooking-Ranges; and I do declare that the following is a true and accurate description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawing and to the letters of reference marked thereon, and being a part of this specification, in Which- Figure 1 is a longitudinal vertical section of a range having my improved fire-pot applied thereto; and Fig. 2, a vertical section of the fire-pot, enlarged.
The nature of this invention consists in the peculiar construction of a fire-pot, as more fully hereinafter set forth.
In the drawing, Arepresents the base-plate, A the top plate, and A the jambs or end plate, of a range having my improved fire-pot applied thereto. B is the right and B the left hand oven,'with the fire-pot 0 between them, resting on the base flue-plate A The fire-pot is either oval or circular in form, and is built up of heavy cast-iron rings, the upper edge of each having an encircling flange, c, to
others, hence avoiding the great tendency of p the fire-pot to crack, if east solid, or if in sections which are bound together. This fire-pot can be advantageously used in other forms of cooking and heating apparatus.
WVh-at I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is- The sectional fire-pot 0, each ring having an encircling flange, c, at the outer and a rabbet at the inner top edges, a space being formed between the flange and top, and alip, c, at the lower inner edge, as and for the purpose set forth.
