Specification of Letters Patent.

To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ALEXANDER H. ROL- LERSON, a citizen of the United States, residing at Plainfield, in the county of Union and State of New Jersey, have invented new and useful Improvements in Ignition Attachments for Torches or the like, of which the following is a specification. r
This invention relates to attachments for torches and lights, and combination torch or the like and ignition means.
Some of the objects of the present invention are: to produce in combination with a torch or other lamp or light an attachment embodying spark producing means part of which will be in juxtaposition to the wick of the torch or other similar device to which it is applied for use; to produce an attachment which is readily applicable to use,
simple of construction inexpensive and thoroughly effective. With these and other objects in view the invention resides in the combination, particular provision and relative arrangement of parts hereinafter more fully described and illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which,

Referring more particularly'to the drawing it will be manifest that, there has been shown a torch to which the attachment of the present invention is applied. The torch is of the blow-type and consists of a fuel container, an adjustable wick tube, and a wick, these being the essential parts for the desired combination. The parts referred to may be found in other types of lamps and the attachment may be 'used in connection therewith or with any other lights having the equivalent essential parts.
The attachment comprises a bracket 10 1 including a part 11 formed to provide an inclined extension 12. The extension 12 supports a member 13 having relatively spaced portions 14 bent at their ends. piece of sparking material 15 such as carborundum is arranged between the portions 14. The sparking material 15 though shown to be held in securement in the member 13 which is removably secured to the extension 12, may be supported directly upon the said extension. The part 11 is formed to provide members 16 having apertured portions 17. A screw 18 and thumb nut 19 with the members 16 serve as a clamp for effecting the securement of the attachment to the torch. Spark striking means is attached to the bracket 10. The said means consists of a preferably tubular member 20 into the end of which is inserted a steel point 21, or the equivalent to it for producing sparks by frictional engagement with the material 15. The member is split at the end and is also provided with apertured portions or lugs. A screw 22 serves for setting up clamping action for holding the steel point 21 in place in its holder 20. The member 20 is connected to the bracket 10 by a chain or the like 23 so that the member 20 may be freely movable for spark producing action. Inasmuch as the material 15 is juxtaposed at an angle with relation to the wick tube and its wick, it will be easy to bring the sparks directly over the wick 24 in the most natural manner for the lighting of the torch.
What is claimed is:
The combination with a torch or the like of an attachment comprising a bracket embodying a clamp, an extension forming a part of said bracket and inclined toward the wick of said torch, a piece of spark producing materialcarried by said extension, a freely movable holder connected to said bracket, a replaceable spark striking element in the end of said holder, and means for holding said element in place with an end thereof projecting from said holder.
