SHOE-HEEL HOLDER.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, WILLIAM T. Cmmn, a citizen of the United States, residin at Irving, in the county of Dallas and tate of Texas, have invented new and useful Improvements in Shoe-Heel Holders, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to improvements in shoe making devices and has for an object the provision of means for removably holding a heel in position for attachment to a shoe and is especially designed for use in connection with the so called French, or other high heels.

An object of the invention is the provision of a holder, which is carried by a shoe last and shaped so as to receive the heel and hold it in position, to facilitate the attachment of the heel to a shoe.

Another object is the provision of means for clamping the heel within the holder, so as to hold it against accidental displacement during the operation of securing it to the shoe, the clamp being so constructed as to permit of the ready positioning and removal of the heel within and from the holder.

With the above and other objects in View, the invention further consists of the following novel features and details of construction, to be hereinafter more fully described and illustrated in the accompanying drawings.

This last may be removably mounted upon a standard, the former having formed therein a socket 12, which removably receives the upper end of the standard 11 as is usual in devices of this character. the last 10 is provided at its heel end with a vertically projecting extension 13, the latter belng concaved as shown at 14: to conform to the curvature of the shoe heel and being provided with a curved recess 15 at the bottom thereof to receive the lower projectmg lift of the heel.

The heel, which is indicated at 16 is placed within the holder 13 and is held against accidental displacement through the medium of a removable clamp 17. This clamp comprises a substantially U-shaped member 18, having one end provided with a laterally extending tongue 19 and its opposite end provided with a laterally inwardly extendng tongue 20, the extremity 21 of which is enlarged as shown. The tongue 19 is adaptedto be removably positioned within an openlng 22 formed in one end of a connecting bar 23, the opposite end of this bar being provided with laterally extending spaced projections 24, which are adapted to be positioned upon opposite sides of the tongue 20 between the extremity 21 and the adjacent end of the member 18. This provides means for quickly attaching or re moving the bar 23 from the member 18, when the heel is being secured within or removed from the holder 13.

In order to tightly clamp the heel in position, the member 18 is thickened intermediate its ends as shown at 25 and this thiekened portion is provided with a threaded opening 26 for the reception of a screw 27, which is adapted to pass through the opening 26 and bear against the rear of the extension 13. The outer end of the screw is provided with a knurled head 28 to provide convenient means for operation.

It is .believed from the foregoing description and the accompanying drawings, that the operation, construction and the advantages of the invention will be apparent, and the right is reserved to make such changes in its form proportions and minor details of construction as properly fall within the scope of the appended claim.
