To 117 Z whom it may eon ccrn 1 Be it known that I, RAYMOND T. limit a citizen of the United States. residing at Chicago, in the countyof Cook and State of Illinois, have invented certain newand useful Improvements in Lid-Su porters, of which the followilu is a speci cation.
This invention relates to improvements in lid supporters, particularly adapted, tlmugh not necessarily limited in its use with the lid or cover of sound reproducing machine cabinets, and one of the ob ects or:
the invention is to provide an improved de vice of this character which will support or maintain the lid or cover. at any degree of elevation or angle and which will be auto- .matic in operation, but which will yield under pressure to permit the cover or lid to be raised or lowered at will.

Connected with the cabinet in any suitable manner is a base 13;. of any desired size and configuration. pivotally connected as at 15,.by one end, to the base 13, and pivotally connected to the othear' end of the element 14, as at 16, and

Slidably mounted upon the element 14, is another element 20, which is provided with an elongated slot 21. in its body. The element 14, is provided with a threaded opening 22. shown more clearly in Fig. 3, adapted to receive the end of a screw or bolt 23. which latter passes through a slot- 21. in the element 20. so that the head 24, will operate upon the elemei'it 20, to cause a binding action between the element 20. and thc element 14C. If desired a washer 25, and a locking device 26, may be interposed be tween the head 24; of the bolt 23, and the element 20. i y
This element 20, is provided with depending: flanges or ears 27, which overhang the edges of the lever like element 14. so as to permit the element 20, to be freely adjusted upon the elemcntli. when the bolt 23, is
loosened and will cooperate with the sides of the element 14. to prevent a rotary or pivotal movement in a lateral direction being; imparted to the element 20, when a strain is exerted upon the element.
A spring 28, is anchored or connected at one of its ends 29. with the base 13, and is connected at its other end 30. preferablv to an ear or projection 31, on the element 20, and n'cferably through the mediuino't an intermediate link 32. one end of which link isconnectcd with a spring and the other end with the element 20.
With this improved construction it will be manifest that the device being of a unitary construction it may be readily placed. into a cabinet in any desired position and by adjusting the element 20. with reference to the element 14, the tension of the spring- 28, may be varied. V The clement 20, is adapted to be reversed with respect to the element 14. that is to say the bolt 23, may be removed and the element 20. turned end for end on the element 14,. that instead oi. having the projection or point to which the end of the spring 28. is secured to the element 20, adjacent the pivot 16, of the element 14, and link 17, the

A lid supporter embodying a base adapted to be secured to a fixed support, an element pivotally connected with the base, a link pivotally connected by one end with the said element and by its other end with the lid whereby when the lid is moved the elements will'be moved about their pivots, a spring connected at one end to a fixed sup port,-and an elementmounted upon the first recited element intermediate the pivots thereof and to which'second recited element the other end of the said spring is connected.
3. A lid supporter embodying a base adapted to be secured to a fixed support, an element pivotally connected with the base,
a link pivotally connected by one end with the said element and by its other end with the lid whereby when the lid is moved the elements will be moved about their pivots,
a spring connected at one end to a fixed sup port, and an adjustable and reversible element mounted upon the first recited element intermediate the pivots thereof and to which second recited element the other end of the said spring is connected.
d. A lid supporterembodying an element pivotally connected at one of its ends to a fixed support, a link pivotally connected by one of its ends to the other end of the said element and by itsother end to the lid, an.
element adjustably mounted upon the first recited element, and a spring connected at one of its ends to the second recited element and at its other end to a fixed support.

Alid supporter embodying an element pivotallyconnected at onset its ends to afixed support, a link pirotally connected by one of its ends to the other end of the said element and by its other end to the lid, an ele ment adjustably mounted upon the first re- :cited element, a link connected with the second recited element, and a spring connected at one end with the second recited link and at its other end to a fixed support.

A lid supporter embodyi an element pivot-ally connected at one of its ends to a fixed support, a link pivotally connected at one of its ends with the other end of the said element and at its other end to a lid, an element slidably mounted upon the first recited element, means for securing the second recited elementagainst adjustment with respect to the first recited element, means for maintaining the second recited element against rotativc adjustment with respect to the first said element, and a sprin connected at one of its ends with the second recited element and the other end to a fixed support.

A lid supporter embodying an element pivotally connected at one of its ends to a fixed support, a link pivot-ally connected at one of its ends with the other end oi the said element and at its other end to a lid, an element slidably mounted upon the first recited element, one of: said elements being provided with an elongated slot, :1 fastening device connected with the other element and extending into the slot, one or more ears or projections connected with one of the said elements and cooperating with the other element for maintaining the adjustable element against turning about the said fastening device, and a spring connected at one of its ends with the said adjustable element and at its other end with a fixed support.
8. A lid supporter embodying a pivotally mounted element, a second element carried thereby and secured for adjustment with relation thereto, and a spring connected at one of its ends with the said second. element and at its other end to a fixed support.
9. A lid supporter embodying a pivotally mounted element, a second element carried thereby and secured for adjustment with relation thereto, and a spring connected at one of its ends with the said second element and at its other end to a fixed support, the said second element being adapted to be reversed with respect to the first recited element.
10. A lid supporter embodying a pivotally mounted element, a second element carried thereby and secured for adjustment thereupon, one or more cars connected with one of the said elements and overhanging the other of the said elements, and a spring connected at one of its ends with the said second element and at its other end with a fixed support.
ll. A lid supporter embodying a pivotally mounted lever like element, a second element slidably mounted thereupon, one of the elements having an elongated slot therein, a fastening device for securing the elements against relative adjustment, said fastoning device being connected with one of the elements and extending into the said slot, a projection extending from one of the elements and engaging a portion of the other element for maintaining the said second ele ment against rotative movement with respect to the other element, and a spring connected at one of its ends to the said second element and at its other end to a fixed support.
12. A lid supporter embodying a pivotally mounted lever like element, a second element slidably mounted thereupon, one of the elements having an elongated slot there in, cars projecting from one of the elements and overhanging the other of the elements, a fastening device passing through the said slot and engaging the other of the elements for securing the said second element against adjustment with respect to the first recited element, and a spring connected at one end With the said second element and at its other end to a fixed support.
