Gas-HEATER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Aug. 9, 1921.
Application led October 12, 1920. Serial 1\To. 416,532.
To all lwhom t may concern:
Be it known that I, Isanonn L. ALTsrrZnR, a citizen of the United States, residing at Yonkers, county of Westchester, and State of New York, and I, MITCHELL LIsNov, a citizen of the United States, residing yat Yonkers, county of Westchester, and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Gas-Heaters, of which the following is a specication.
Uur invention relates to improvements in gas heaters, particularly to improvements in appliances especially adapted to be placed in an ordinary coal or wood stove without permanently altering said stove, and it is the principal object of the invention to provide a heating appliance which, when not in use, can be folded into a compact and easily transportable package.
Another object of the invention is to providel a device of this character which is simple and therefore inexpensive to construct and which can be easily placed into and removed from any stove and the use of which results in a great saving of fuel, as for instance wood or coal.
These and other objects of the invention will become more fully apparent as the description proceeds, reference being had to the accompanying` drawing forming part of this description, in which- Figure 1 is a front view of a device constructed according to the present invention applied to a stove illustrated partly in section.
Fig. 2 is a top plan view of the device seen in the direction of the arrow 2 in Fig. 1, and
Fig. 3 is an end view of the device seen in the direction of the arrow 3, Fig. 2.
In the preferred application of our improved gas heater, the serpentine pipe 10 is provided at its upper face with a plurality of orifices 11 forming exit openings for the gas to be ignited, as shown at 12, and to be supplied to this pipe through the inlet pipe 13 provided with a suitable nipple 14 adapted for the attachment of a gas connection 15, and controlled by a suitable valve 16. The inlet 18 is attached to the lower end of a branch pipe 17 attached at its upper end by means of an elbow sleeve 18 to one end of the serpentine pipe 10 so that it can be folded upon the same as indicated in dotted lines 19 in Fig. 2. 'Io the opposite end of the serpentine pipe 10 is attached by means of an elbow sleeve 2O a branch pipe 21, the lower end of which is formed into a foot 22, while the sleeve 20 permits a folding of the branch pipe and foot upon the serpentine pipe as indicated at 23. The entire device, when ready for use, may be placed into a stove 211 of any well known construction, and it will be clear that it may be made in any size to suit the particular size of stove with which it is to be used.
The stove may be provided with stove or fire holes 25 and 26, if it is desired to use the same as a cooking stove.
It will be clear that changes may be made in the general arrangement and construction of the minor details of our invention without deviating from the scope and spirit thereof.
What we claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States is 1. 'Ihe combination with a stove, of a serpentine gas burner pipe, a foot part at one end of said pipe adapted to be folded upon the same, and a gas supply branch pipe at the opposite end also adapted to be folded upon the said serpentine pipe.
2. The combination with a stove, of a serpentine gas burner pipe, elbows rotatably secured at the ends of' said pipe, a foot part secured to one of said elbows, a supply pipe attached to the opposite elbow, and means for controlling the supply of gas to said 1pc. P 3. rIhe combination with a stove, a serpentine gas burner pipe provided with a plurality of orifices at its upper face, elbow sleeves rotatably attached to the ends of said pipe, branch pipes secured to the free ends of said elbow sleeves, a foot part on one of said branch pipes, and a gas supply pipe on the other one of said branch pipes.
4l. rI`he combination of a serpentine gas burner pipe provided with a plurality of horizontally-disposed convolutions, with a stove foi` the reception of said gas burner pipe., elbow sleeves rotatably secured to the Y ends of said pipe, branch pipes secured With ed for the attaehmentfofda gas Vsupply hose,
their lupper endsto the free endsof said integral with said inlet pipe.
