To all whom it may concern: I

-Be it known that I, EUGENE C KUBIK, a citizen of the United States, residin at St.- Louis,iin the cit of St. Louis and tateof Missouri, have invented certain new and .useful- Improvements in Dustbrushes for pencil from rolling when-placed upon a slanting desk or tab The drawingsillustrate a' referred embodiment of the invention. 1 owever, it is to be understood that in adapting the same to meet different condition-s, various changes in the form, proportion, and minor details of construction maybe resorted to without departing from the nature of the invention as claimed hereinafter.

The numeral 1 designates a lead pencil of ordinary construction, the same being provided at oneend with a metal sleeve 2 and an eraser 3 which consists of a block of rubber.

a brush. 5 is secured to the pencil by means of a holder e which is provided witha shank 6, whichis inserted within the outer portion of'the sleeve 2' and retained therein by means of the eraser 3. clearly in Fig. 5 the sleeve 2 is provided with a punch mark 7 which is disposed opposlte the shank 6 and deflects said shank, thereby materially assisting in retaining the holder'in position. The dust brush usually consists of a plurality of bristles or elementsarranged .to form a tuft which is engaged at a middle point by means of the holder, thereby providing in effect a double the/pencil. This results in the provision of means to prevent the pencil from rolling when placed on a slanting table .or desk. lVloreover,--by providing a double ended :brush, greater: convenience results overi the provision ,of'a single brush, because one of brush ends 'is usually in convenient p0- s1t1on for use without requiring the shifting or moving of the pencil to bring a brush end in position for service when it is reuired to remove dust from a surface.

The holding preferably consists of a metal strip having an end portion rolled upon itself to snugly embrace the brush and confine the elements thereof. The opposite end of the strip is folded upon itself to produce a shank 6 of hook form which embraces aportion of the'outer end of the As shown most ended brush which is arrangedcrosswise of r 1 sleeve 2, the shank 6 being confined withr in the sleeve by means of the eraser 3 which is pressed into the sleeve in a manner well understood. p

The invention is particularly adapted for lead pencils intended for office use and when markings are erased, the dust produced may be easily and quickly removed from the surface by use of, the brush, as will be readily understood. The sleeve 2 may be of any 7 length and constitutes a hollow support for the brush and eraser, the shank 6 of the brush holder being retained in place by means of thepart 3 which serves 'as a' plug.

The foregoing description and the drawings have reference to what may be consid-' ered the preferred, or approved form of my invention.
