CIGAR AN D CIGARETTE LIGHTER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Aug. 9, 1921.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, FELIX GRANDIOH, a citizen of the United States, residing at Bronx, in the county of Bronx and State of New York, have invented new and useful Improvements in Cigar andCigarette Li 'htthe coil on a spring plunger which is 10- cated in a base.
.erence will be had to his invention also consists in certain other'features of construction and in the. combination and arrangement of the severalparts, to be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and specifically pointed out in the appended claim.
In describing my invention in detail, refthe accompanying drawingswherein like characters denote like or corresponding parts throughout the sevthe head. One of these eral views, and in which Figure'l is an elevation of the device. Fig. 2 is a longitudinal section. F Fig. 3is a cross section on line 3-3 of In these views 1 indicates a base which carries the upright tubular member 2. The plunger rod 3 passes throu h this tubular member and the upper en of the rod is provided with a semi-spherical head 4 which is made of suitable non-conducting material. This head sup orts the coil 5 which has its ends connected with the pins 6 carried by pins is in electric connection with the rod 3 and the other pin is connected by'the conductor 7 with the complete the circuit to the coil.
battery 8. A switch 9 is located in this conductor. The battery 8 is connected with a contact 10, carried by the base and located under the lower end of the plunger rod 3. A sleeve 11 is located in the lower part of the tubular member 2 and surrounds the lower part of the plunger rod. This sleeve forms a seat for the lower end of the spring 12, which surrounds the plunger rod and has its upper end pressed against the head. The conductors. pass through the base and upri ht 2 so as to be hidden from view.
t will thus be seen that when a cigar or cigarette is pressed against the coil 5 the plunger rod will be lowered so as to bring its lower end against the contact 10 and thus The current passing through the coil will cause the same to glow and thus ignite the cigar or cigarette. When it is desired to render the device inoperative the switch 9 may be opened.
It is thought from the foregoin description that the advantages and nove features of my invention will be readily a parent.
I desire it to be understood t at I may make changes in the construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, provided that such chan es fall with- 1n the scope of the appended c aim.
What I claim is A cigar'or cigarette lighter comprising a base, a tubular upright carried thereby, a spring plunger located in the tubular upright, a semi-spherical head of non-conducting material connected with the upper end of the spring plunger, a resistance coil carried by said head, a contact in the base and located below the lower end of'the plunger and an electric circuit including said contact and the coil.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature.
FELIX GRANDICH.
