To all to hem it may concern:
Be it known that 1, JAMES HARLAN Mints, a citizen of the United States, residing at Gallipolis, in the county of Gallia and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Inner-Tube Receptacles, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to containers or receptacles, more particularly to receptacles for the extra or surplus inner tubes of pneu matic tires usually carried with motor driven vehicles upon which pneumatic tires are employed, and has for one of its objects to provide a simply-constructed device in which two or more of the tubes having the air valves attached, may be disposed and protected from injury or from contact one with the other, and from which any tube may be removed Without disturbing the others.
With these and other objects in view, the invention consists in certain novel features of construction as hereinafter shown and described and then specifically pointed out in the claim, and in the drawings illustrative of the preferred embodiment of the illvention.
Figure 1 is a perspective view of the improved container in open position and without its supply of inner tubes.
Fig. 2 is a plan view with the cover raised as in Fig. 1, with a pair of inner tubes arranged therein.
The inner or inflatable tubes of pneumatic tires are of rather fragile material, easily punctured or otherwise impaired if roughly used, and generally one or more extra tubes are carried with each motor driven vehicle, and to safely carry these surplus tubes and to retain them in an easily accessible position is the principal object of the present invention.
The improved device includes a casing or body 10 preferably oblong and having a cover 11 hingedly united thereto at 12.
The casing and its cover may be of any suitable material, but will generally be of sheet metal and provided with a suitable fastening or locking means represented conventionally at 18. The body portion is provided preferably with a stop bead 1& against which the edge of the closure or cover bears when closed.
Disposed within the casing 10 is a U- shaped partition including a closed end portion 15 and side members 16, the ends of the latter being attached at 17 to one Wall of the receptacle. By this means a U-shaped pocket is produced in which three walls of the casing and the three parts of the partition form the walls of the pocket.
Within the above mentioned U-shaped partition is another and smaller U-shaped partition including a closed end portion 18 and spaced side portion 19, the ends of the sides being attached at 20 to the closed end portion 15 of the outer partition. For the purpose of this description the partition formed of the members 15 and 16 will be referred to as the outer partition, and the partition formed of the members 18 and 19 as the inner partition.

Formed in the end member 15 of the outer partition is a recess or opening 21, and formed in the end member 18 of the inner partition is a like recess or opening 22.
The U-shaped pockets produced by the partitions are designed to receive the inner tubes represented at 28, when deflated and folded as shown in Fig. 2, and the openings 21 and 22 receive the air valve tubes 24, and thus safely hold the tubes and prevent injury thereto during transportation.
