.description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to animal husbandry, and more especially to feeding devices; and the object of the same is to produce a Watering trough made from a single blank of sheet metal folded in such way that it will be exceedingly strong, rests on the lower edges of its sides and ends and cannot be easily overturned, needs but two lines of soldering to make it watertight, and can be readily cleaned of dirt or ice.
These objects are carried out by cutting and folding the blank in the manner hereinafter more fully described and claimed, and as shown in the drawings wherein:

Fig. 4 is an end elevation of the structure with the panels folded to shape and the flaps in place, but the wings and lip not yet folded.
The blank designated by the numeral 20 in Fig. 2 is substantially rectangular in outline, and is stamped or cut from a single piece of sheet material-preferably metal with scores or indentations where it is to be folded as indicated by the dotted lines in this view, and the parts of such blank will be described by the same terms as applied to them after it has been folded into shape. Along one edge of the blank is a side panel 1 and along the other edge the opposite side panel 2, while between these panels are two others 3 and 4 constituting parts of a V- shaped bottom, the four panels being separated from each other by fold lines as indicated at 5. At each end of each side panel is an end wing 6 separated-from the panel by a fold line 7 At the ends of the bottom panels are right-angular triangular fiaps 8, 18 separated from the panels by fold lines 9 along their bases, while the upright sides of these two flaps are separated from ea'ch other by a slit or out 10. The hypotenuse 11 of one flap 8 is spaced 6, while a triangular lip 13 issconnected by a fold line 14 with the hypotenuse of the other flap 18 so that'this flap and lipcollectively are substantially square. The same structure of parts prevails at the other end of the blank so that if reversed end forfend A the same description would apply.

and then eachside panel is bent down from the outer edge of its bottom panel to an angle of about 45 so that'it standsvertical.
The flaps 8 and 18 are meanwhile bent up at right anglesto their bottom panels so that when the latter are bent into planesat right angles with each other, the flaps will overlie each other, and they may be connected by rivets or otherwise as shown at 15. The end wlngs 6 are now bent inward at right fromthe inner edge 12 of the adjacent wings angles to their side panels and lapped, and
they may be connected with each other by rivets 16. The lip 13 is now bent down over the outermost wing, to which it may be connected by rivets 17; or, if preferred, the several overlapping wings and flaps, and the lip may all be connected by a single rivet or by a single set of rivets passing through them. Finally a line of solder is run up the side of the innermost flap 8 along the line 19 where it' contacts with the bottom panel 4, and the same at the other endthese being the only lines where leakage might occur. The structure is now complete and its parts are thoroughly braced, leaving no place where an animal could get its snout under that trough and upset it. The lower edges of the side panels and their end wings rest slightly on or may be embedded in the earth, and the trough may be used for feeding or for watering stock. Manifestly it is easy to clean, 7
and even if the water should freeze solid, the lump of ice can be readily dislodged.
What is claimed is: e 1. The herein described trough composed of a single piece of sheet material folded to forma V-shaped bottom, vertical sides de pending from the edges of the bottom pan els, vertical end wings extending from the ends of the side panels and overlapping each other, flaps at the ends of the bottom panels folded at right angles to them and overlapping each other inside said wings, means for connecting the wings and flaps at each end of the structure, and a watertight connection between the free edge of the inner flap and the opposite bottom panel.

The herein described trough composed of a single piece of sheet material folded to form a V-shaped bottom, vertical sides depending from the edges of the bottom panels, vertical end wings extending from the ends of the side panels and overlapping each other, flaps at the ends of the bottom panels folded at right angles to them and overlapping each other inside said wings, and a lip on one flap foldedoutwardiover the other flap and the lapping wings.

The herein described trough composed of a single piece of sheet material folded to form a V-shaped bottom, vertical sides depending from the edges of the bottom pan els, vertical end wings extending from the ends of the side "panels and overlapping each other, flaps at the ends of the bottom panels folded at right angles to them and overlapping each other inside said wings, rivets for connecting said wings and flaps where they overlap, and a lip on the inside flap-folded outward over the other flap and the lapping wings.
