Description

UNITED STATES PATsNT orifice.
FELIX r. zALnvsxi AND LAWRENCE r. HRYSHKA, or PRESTON, ONTARIO, CANADA- HANGER-BRACKET.
Application filed July 16,
T o all whom t may concern:
Be it known that we, FnLix P. ZAiJnvsKn a subject of the King of Great Britain, and LAWRENCE P. HRYSHKA, a citizen of Poland, residing at Preston, in the county of Waterloo and Province of Ontario, Canada, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Hanger-Brackets, of which the following is a specification. Y
Our invention relates to improvements in brackets and more particularly to 'a novel device embodied in a brackety providing means for extending the article hung on the bracket to a more remote distance from the wall of the building or such structureto which the bracket is secured, theJ invention consisting essentially of a horizontal rod supported from the structure, and having a trolley operative thereon, together with novel means for altering the position of s aid trolley on said rod, and means for hanging an article from said trolley.
The invention Vhas for its primary object to provide suitable means in a bracket/to be secured to a window sash for the purpose of hanging out articles such as clothes hangers for drying purposes and the like, whereby the position of said articles may be changed from one within reach of a person standing within the building and juxtaposed to the window, to one more .remote from the building so that said hanging'article may not come in contact with the building owing to wind and the like.
We do not confine our invention, however, to the particular purpose described above; the device may be utilized for various purposes by varying the proportions thereof.
A further object is to provide a device of the class specified which will be simple, durable, efficient in operation, and comparatively inexpensive to manufactiire.
These, together with other ob] ects, may be attained by the construction, combination and arrangement of the parts as will be hereinafter more particularly described, illustrated in the accompanying drawing, and pointed out in the claim hereunto appended.
Referring to the drawing:
Figure 1 is a' side elevation of the entire Specification of Letters Patent. i Pateted/ June 28, 1921.
1920. Serial No. 396,866.
improved bracket showin@i the trolley in full'extendedposition in `fiill lines, and in the opposite position in dotted lines;
Fig. 2 is an enlarged detailed reverse side elevation of the actuating mechanism; and,
Fig. 8 is a top viewof the bracket brace.
Similar reference characters refer to similar parts throughout theseveral views.
A indicates the horizontal bracket rod bolted to the perpendicular member B at 2, which is in turn bolted or screwed to the window sash indicated by C. The said rod is supported by the strut D, and is rigidly retained in its proper position by the horizontal brace E, secured to the opposed sash of the window in angular relation to the said rod. The free end of the brace E is provided with a plurality of holes 3, any of which a-re adapted to engage the post 4 on the rod A. This multiplicity of holes provides means which render the device adjustable to various widths of windows.
The trolley, whose range of travel upon the rod A is between the upper termination Vof the strut D and the stop 5 on the end of the rod, comprises a grooved sheave 6 having bearing in and supporting a sleeve 7 slidable on said rod. Attached to the bearings of said sheave is a link 8, or its equivalent, for attaching an article indicated by 9.
A connecting rod 10 is pivotally connected to the sleeve 7 at 11, and to the lever 12 at 13. The said lever is fulcrumed to the strut D at 14;. A connecting rod 15 is pivotally connected to the lever 12 at 16, and to a hand lever 17 at 18. The hand lever 17 is fulcrumed to a bearing 19 at 20, integral with the perpendicular member B, and swings Yfrom. an upright position to a depending position, as clearly shown in Fig. 2,'thereby actuating the trolley from full extended position to full abridged position. The rod 15 is curved at 21 in order to escape the bearing 19 while changing position.
Having no-w fully described my invention, what Iclaim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is In a device of the class described, a vertical member, a horizontal rod extending from the vertical member, a strut secured to said vertical member and supporting said horizontal rod, a trolley having limited pvotally connectedy to the thVree-eor'nered l travel on'sad rod, means on the trolley for body at its other corner.
