UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
NAIL-EXTRAGTOR.
Application filed March 19, 1921.
To all w 7mm it may concern Be it known that I, Gnncon WEINBEER, a citizen of the German Republic, residing at Nuremberg, Germany, have invented cer tain new and useful Improvements in Nail- Extractors, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to nail extractors of that type in which, for pulling the nails out in vertical direction, pincers are moved by means of a lever pivoted upon'a support. This invention has for its object to improve such nail extractors so that the upper ends of the arms of the pincers are freely accessible, and that the pivotable lever is situated at the lower end of the support. Owing to the accessibility of the pincers the nail head can be securely gripped even if it is sunk in the wood.
In order to make the invention clearly understood, I shall describe the same with reference to the form of construction shown by way of example in the accompanying drawing, wherein Figure 1 shows the improved nail extractor in side elevation and Fig. 2 in front elevation- Fig. 3 shows the nail extractor in use.
The short arm 1 of the pinoers is movably guided upon the support 2. The angle lever '3 is pivotally mounted at the lower end of the support 2. The short arm 7, of the angle lever 3 is fork-shaped and pro vided with guide slots 9 in which the pivot bolt d of the jaws 8 of the pincers is guided. The upper end 5 of the long arm of the pincers serves together with the upper end of the support 2 as a handle for the pincers.
For extracting a nail 11, the same is gripped with the jaws 8 of the pincers, the

long arm of the angle lever being in vertical position as shown in Fig. 1. By depressing the lever 3 the foot 6 of the support 2 is securely pressed upon the box or board 10 from which the nail has to be extracted, the short arm 7 of the angle lever 3 pushing the pincers 8 upward along the support 2 whereby the nail is pulled out. lVhen this nail extractor is used the nail will never be bent.
When the long arm of the lever is placed against the support 2 the implement can be used as ordinary pincers.
I claim 1. An improved nail extractor comprising in combination a vertical support, pincers composed of a long arm, of a short arm and of the jaws, a pivot pin for said jaws, means for guiding said short arm upon said support, an angle lever pivotally fixed to the lower part of said support and composed of a long arm and of a forkshaped short arm, said short arms having guide slots for the pivot pin of the jaws of the pincers.
2. An improved nail extractor comprising in combination a vertical support serving as one of the arms of the pincers, a foot at the lower end of said support, pincers composed of a long arm, of a short arm and of the jaws, a pivot pin for said jaws, a
sleeve at the outer end of said short arm of the jaws guided upon said support, an angle lever pivotally fixed to the lower part of said support and composed of a long arm and of a fork-shaped short arm, said short arms having guide slots for the pivot pin of the jaws of the pincers.
