UNITED STATES EDWARD R. YOUNGS, 0F MIAMI, FLORIDA.
TIE-CLASP.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented June 7, 1921i Application led August 25, 1920. Serial No. 405,786.
To all whom t may concern Be it'known that I, EDWARD R. YOUNGS, a citizen of the United States, residing at Miamij in the county of Dade and State of Florida, have invented new and useful Improvements in Tie-Clasps, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to an improvement in tie clasps, the principal object of the invention being' to provide means for connecting the ends of a tie of the four-inhand type to the shirt so as to hold the tie against the front of the shift.
Another object of the invention is to proide means whereby the tie may have a certain amount of movement to prevent it from being stretched or the shirt pulled out in the movements of the wearer.
Still another object of the invention is to make that part of the invention which is in view of ornamental appearance so as to add to the attractiveness oi' the tie'.
This invention also consists in certain other features of construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, to be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and specifi ally pointed out in the appended claim.
In describing` my invention in detail, reference will be had to the accompanying drawings wherein like characters denote like or corresponding parts throughout the several views, and in which Figure l is a view showing the invention in use.
Fig. 2 itself.
Fig. 3 is a top plan view.
As shown in these views the device comprises a clasp l which may be of any desired type, the ornamental safety pin 2 and'the loop member 3. This loop member has one of its pa allel parts secured, at its center, to
is a perspective view of the device the inner face of one of the clamping plates of the clasp l so that the loop member is rigidly secured to the clasp with its other parallel part located in front of the clasp. This part is adapted to be engaged by the pin so that the pin is slidably connected with the loop member.
In using the device the clasp is engaged with the front of the shirt and the pin is passed through the depending parts of the tie, through the loop member, then through the tie again and is then closed. It will thus be seen that the depending part of the tie is slidably connected with the clasp so that it will have a certain amount of movement but will be prevented from blowing' about and will be kept against the shirt at all times. The bar of the pin will be ornamentally designed as this part of the device will extend across the depending part of the tie, as shown in Fig. l. The loop member will be vertically arranged so that the pin can have vertical sliding movement thereon so that the tie can move when the body is bent. rThe device will hold the tie against the shirt at all times and will keep the depending part spread out as shown in F ig. l.
It is thought from the foregoing description that the advantages and novel features of my invention will be readily apparent.
I desire it to be understood that I may make changes in the construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, provided that such changes fall within the scope of the appended claim.
lVhat I claim is f Y A tie holder comprising a clasp for en` gaging the shirt, a closed loop member having a part rigidly connected with the clasp and a safety pin for engaging the depend ing part of the tie and said loop member.
In testimony whereof I aihx my signature.
EDIVARD R. YOUNGS.
