Description
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
GEORGE WI'I'TY, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
PAINT VEHICLE AND METHOD OF MAKING- THE SAME.
No Drawing.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, GEORGE WI'rrY, a citizen of the United States of America, resid ing at New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented new and useful Improvements in Paint Vehicles and Methods of Making the Same, I
of which the following is a'speclfication.
The object of the invention is to provide an improved paint vehicle to be used in place of linseed oil, the said vehicle being adapted for use with every paint base and with any color or shade of paint. The composition comprises the following ingredients in the proportions named Rosin 40 ounds.
Crude oil Parafiin oil 10 Gasolene 9- Japan drier 5 Sugar of lead 3 Flowers of sulfur--- 2 In the preparation of the composition, the rosin is melted in an iron kettle over a slow fire and in the resence of crude oil, parafiin oil and 'gaso cue, the mixture being stirred occasionally until the whole is welldissolved; While still hot, the remainmg mgredients are added to the whole and Specification of Letters Patent.
of paraflin ,oil, 9 pounds of Patented May 24, 1921.
Application filed June 18, 1920. Serial No. 389,976.
thoroughly mixed, after which the composition is allowed to cool, when it is ready for use.
The invention having been described, what is claimed as new and useful is v 1. A paint vehicle consisting of a mixture of rosin, crude oil, parafiin oil, gasolene, Japan drier, sugar of lead, and sulfur.
2. A paint vehicle consisting of 40 pounds cle which consists in melting rosin over a slow fire in the presence of crude oil parafiin oil and gasolene, the mixture bein stirred occasionally until the rosin is wel dissolved, and then adding to the mixture while hot, Japan drier, sugar of lead and sulfur.
In testimony whereof I afiix my signature.
GEORGE WITTY.
