a new and improved dust bag designed for household use and arrangedto permit of readily shaking off the dust from a dry mopping duster and tol retain such dust without danger of thedust escaping back into the room.

Another object is to permit of Vreadily carrying the dust bag from one room to another and temporarily supporting it' from a door knob or similar support within the room which is to be dusted at the time.

Another Objectis to permit of readily folding up the dust bag to 'form asmall Vbundle for convenient storing and shipping purposes.

Another object is topermit of conveniently replacing a worn out bagbody by a vnew one whenever it is .desired to do so`,-'and to permit of temporarilyfreinoving the dust bag body for emptying andfwashing purposes. p y

With theseand other objects in view, the invention consists of certain novel features of construction as hereinafter shown and described and then specifically pointed out in the claims. f

A practical embodiment of the invention is represented in the accompanying drawings forming a part of this specification, in which similar characters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the views.

The bag body 10 is made of a suitable textile material and is provided at its mouth with a hem 11 open at the top and containing a split vring 12 held in place by Snap fasteners 18i or 'other vfastening devices arranged on. the upper end of the hem 11 to close the open top thereof over the top edge lof the ring 12. The vrear of the ring 12 is provided with studsy 15 engaged by the forked endsk 16 of a suspension loop. 17, preferably made ofstrong wire and adapted to be hooked on to a door knob 18 yor kother suitable support, it being understood that the loop 17 and the bag body 10 are of an aggregate height corresponding to that from the iioolr to the door knob 18, so that the bottom of the bag body 10 rests on the floor at the time the loop 17 engages the door knob 18, as plainlyshownin Figs. '1 and 2. The side" members of the 'loop 17 are `placed under tension when engaging f the fork 16 with the studs 15 thus removably holding the fork 16 in engagement with the studs 15.

yThe ends of the' ring 12 are connected by` hinges 2O with the upper ends of the mem-Y bers of a fork 21formed onthe upper portion of a bar 22 made of wood and held in a hem 23 arranged on the frontrof the bag body 10. The hem 23 is provided in its .upper` portion with a slot 24 registering with the slot formed' by the fork 21 of the bar 22 to permit of passing the lstick of a dry mopping duster down the said registering slots with the head of the duster extending within the bag body 10, as will be `readily understood by reference to the dotted lines in Fig. 2. The bar 22 is preferably made of wood, and the bottom of the fork 21 is provided with a metallic striking plate 25 extending inwardly to permit the user to strike the stick of the duster against the plate 25 with a view to shake off the dust from the head of the duster confined within the bag body 10 at the time. Thus the shaken of dust drops into the bottom of theV bag and accumulates therein, but the dust is prevented from rising owing to the head of the duster being within the bag body at the time.

In order to hold the lower end ofv the bag body 10 in extended position, use is preferably made of a metallic ring 30 fitting loosely into the bottom end of the bag body 10. It is understood that the loop 17 attached to the top ring 11 holds the mouth of the bag open during the time the dust bag is held suspended'from a door knob 18, and hence the user can readily pass the head of the duster through the open mouth of the bag down into the bag with the stick passing` down the slot of the fork until the striking plate 25 is reached. When the dust bag is not in use it can be readily folded up into a small bundle by disconnecting the loop 171- ward from the mouth of the bag to allow of passing the stick of a duster down the slot with the headof the duster within the bag body, and a bar held on the bag body and extending from the mouth to the bottom of the bag body, the bar having a slot registering with the said bag body slot.

A dust bag, comprising a bag body provided with a slot extending a distance downward from the mouth ofthe bag to allow `of passing the stick of a duster down the slot with the head of the duster within the bag body, a bar held on the bag body, the bar having a slot registering with the said bag body slot, and a striking plate at the bottom of the bar slot. 3. A dust bag, comprising a bag body provided with a slot extending a distance downward from the mouth of the bag to allowy of passing the stick of a duster down the slot with the head of the duster within the bag body, a bar held on the bag body and extending from the mouth to the bottom of the bag body, the bar having a slot registering with the said bag body slot, and a suspension loop at the mouth of the bag body for suspending the bag body from a fixed support. f i

A dust bag, comprising a bag body provided with a slot extending a distance downward from the mouth of the bag to allow of passing the stick of a duster down the slot with the head of the duster within the bag body, a bar held on the bag body and extending from the mouth to the bottom of the bag body, the bar having a slot registering with the said bag body slot, a split ring hinged to the upper end of the said bar and to which the mouth of the bag body is attached, the split in the ring registeringwith the said slots, and a suspension -loop attached to the rear of the ring for' suspending the bag body and holding the mouth of the bag open.

5. A dust bag, comprising a bag body provided with a slot extending a distance downward from the mouth of the bag to allow ot passing the stick of a duster down the slot with the head of the duster within the bag body', a bar held on the bag body and extending from the mouth to the bottom ofthe bag body, the bar having a slot registering with the said bag body slot, a split ring hinged to the upper end of the said bar and to which the mouth of the bag body is attached, the split in the ring'registering with the said slots, a suspension loop attached to the rear of the ring for suspending the bag body and holding themouth of the bag open, and a ring held loose in the bottom of the baO.
