CHANGE-RECEPTAGLE.
I Specification of Letters Patent. Pate t d M 17 1921 Application filed. February 24, 1920. Serial No. 360,752.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that 1, WILLIAM A. HEAP, a
citizen of the United States, residing at To- 7 peka, in the county of Shawnee and Statev have invented new and useful of Kansas, Improvements in Change-Receptacles, which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to improvements in change receptacles and the principal object of the invention is to make the change tray tiltable so as to dump the change from the tray into the hand.
Another object of the invention is to provide' means whereby the tray may be tilted in two directions so that both the salesman and the customer may tilt the tray to receive the coins. I
This invention also consists in certain other features of construction and in the combination'and arrangement of the several parts, to be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and specifically pointed out inthe appended claim. A
In describing my invention in detail, reference will be had to the accompanying drawings wherein like character's denote like or corresponding parts throughout the several views, and in which I Figure 1 is a side view of the invention.
Fig. 2 is a plan view.
I Fig. 3 is an end view.
Fig. 4 is a longitudinal section.
In these views 1' indicates the holder which is of substantially channel form with both of its ends open. Each side of this holder is provided with a pair of bayonet slots 2 in its upper edge, the horizontal parts of the slots extending toward each other.
The coin tray is indicated at 3 and this tray has a pair of lugs 41- on each side thereof which are adapted to engage with the bayonet slots 2 in the holder. As shown the tray fits within the upper part of the channel of the holder. The depression of the tray has its end parts rounded and each end of the tray 1s cut away to form the curved lips 5. These curved ends and lips will facilitate the passage of the coins from the tray into the hand when the tray is tilted to dump the coins into the hand. i
As will be seen the lugs of each pair are so spaced that when one lug is engaging the lnner end of the horizontal part of the slot the other lug is engaging the vertical part of the slot so'that the-tray may be tilted from either end, the lugs in the horizontal parts of the slots acting as a hinge, while the other lugs will pass from the vertlcal parts of the slots. When the tray is to be tllted from the other side of the holder 1t s first slidalong the holder to" place one pair of lugs 1n the horizontal parts of the slots and the other lugs in the vertical portion that the advantages and novel features of my invention will be readily apparent.
I desire it to be understood that I may I make changes in the construction and in the combination and arrangement ofzthe several parts, provided that such changes fall within the scope of the appended claim.
What I claim is A device of the class described comprising a channel-shaped holder having bayonetshaped slots in its upper edges, a tray having, lugs thereon engaging said slots, said" lugs being spaced apart so that while one lug engages the vertical part of the slot the other lug is engaging the horizontal portion. In testimonywhereof I afiix my signature.
