IMPROVEMENT IN BROMS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent N0. 137,721, dated April 8, 1873; application filed March 17, 1873.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, FRANCIS REEsE, of Ca- 1era, in the county of Shelby and State of Alabama, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Brooms 5 and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and eX- act description of the invention, such as will will enable others skilled in the art to which it pertains to make and use it, reference being had to the accompanying drawing which forms part of this specification.
My invention relates to brooms.
In the drawing, Figure 1 is a View, in section, of my broom 5 and Fig. 2, a perspective view of the same.
My invention consists as follows: The piece A, made from wood or any suitable firm material, is provided with the cap-piece B, which covers and protects the upper ends of the broom-straws or brushing material C. This cappiece is provided with the hole D for the accommodation of a handle, E. An oblique opening, Df, is also made for the same purpose, passing through the broom-straws C and the piece A.
The broom-straws, after having been suitably prepared, are iirmly held in proper position between the plates A and F brought together by screws G or their equivalents, the two outer ones, G, serving as supports and retainers for the sides of the broom.
When, by use, that portion of the broom below the `plates A and F becomes worn, the straws may be taken out and reversed by 1oos ening the screws G G and separating the plates A F. Thus is the broom renewed, and
