ing or scrubbing device having means for the reception of water or other liquid for washing the window glass and also means for catching and retaining the dirty water removed from the window glass during the process of washing and scrubbing the same. The invention consists in the several features and in the construction, combination and arrangement of suchfeatures as more fully hereinafter described and claimed.

The object of the invention is to provide means for thoroughly washing and cleaning a window glass, catching and re taining the dirty water or other liquid as it IS removed from the glass and also drymg and pollshing the glass and catching and retaining any residue of water which may have been left on the glass after the washing operation.

A further object is to provide means for containing the clean water or other liquid with which the window is to be cleaned or washed, feeding the water to the window glass and catching and retaining the dirty water or other liquid as it flows from the window glass and catching and retaining any dirty water which is removed from the glass during the operation of drying and polishing the same.

A further object is to provide a window glass cleaning device which is simple, in expensive and durable in construction and convenient and'easy to use.

AndFig. 5 is a detail sectional view of a modlfied form of the moistemng element throughout the several views, .1 represents the window glass cleaner, 2 the liquid receiving reservoir or container, preferably made cylindrical in shape or form but which may be made of any other desired shape or contour, provided with end walls 3 and 4 and divided centrally by means of a-longitudinal partition 5 into two compartments or chambers 6 and ,7, the upper compartment 6 being for the reception of the clean water or other liquid for use in washing, scrubbing or cleaning a window glass and the lower compartment 7 being for use for the reception of the dirty water or other liquid removed from the window during the operation or process or" cleaning or scrubbing the same and 8 is a suitable f handle for manipulating the device.

The upper compartment 6 of the reservoir is provided with a hollow rectangular longitudinally extending projection 9 in which a rectangularlongitudinally extending moistening element or sponge receptacle 10 is mounted having a series of apertures 11 serving to feed the clean waterfroin the upper compartment 6 to the moistening element or sponge 12. o 7

Just below the moistening element or sponge receptacle an upwardly projecting longitudinal lip 13 is provided having a slot 1 1 with a strip of rubber 15 mounted therein andbetween the sponge receptacle and lip a longitudinally extending dirty water receiving recess or mouth 16 is formedwhich together with the rubber strip 15 catches the dirty water as it flows from the window glass and sponge and directs it into the lower dirty water receptacle 7 throughn rectangular opening or inlet 17.

After the window glass has been thoroughly scrubbed, washed and cleaned the device is turned around by means of the handle 8 andothe glass dried and polished by the rubberslSand 19.

The upper rubber 18 is made a little longer than the rubber 19 in order that the window cleaning device may be applied to the surface being operated uponin a substantially vertical position without pressing the lowerrubber withtoo great a pressure against such surface and both are mounted in a rectangular frame 20' which in turn is mounted in a rectangular recess or aperture 21 in the compartment 7 and is provided with a longitudinally extending central aperture 22 situated between the

It will be seen that by the use of my invention a very simpl and efficient window cleaning device has been produced which is formed so as. to allow clean water to be discharged from one compartment of the reservolr so as to be conveyed to a pane of glass whereupon the moistening device or sponge carried by the reservoir may remove the filth and dirt from the window pane at which time the dirty water will he directed .down-" wardly and will be caught so asto be conveyed into the interior of the dirty water receiving compartment. I do not wish to be understood as limitingmyself to the specific details of construction and arrangement as herein described and illustrated, as it is manifest that variations and modifications may be made in the features of construction and arrangement in the adaptation of the device to various conditions of use without departing from the spirit and scope of my invention and improvements. 1, therefore reserve the right to all such variations and modifications as properly fall within the scope of my invention and the terms of the following claims.

What I claim is 3- 1. In a window cleaning device, a casing having upper and lower compartments, the upper compartment providing a reservoir for cleaning liquid, a moistcninp; and cleaning element mounted upon and communicating with said reservoir, a trough with an inclined bottom extending from the lower compartment below said element, an openinp; into said lower compartment being provided above said bottom, and a resilient the front edge of said bot-.

In a window cleaning device, a casing having a compartment providing a receptacle for liquid, and having a slot extending horizontally mounted in said slot and having a slot at substantially the center thereof communis eating with said compartment, and resilient strips mounted above and below the said central slot.
