AUTOMATIC nocxmck CRADLE.
, Specification of Letters Batent.
Application filed October 2, 1920. Serial No. 414,289. 1
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, AUBREY J. Lawson, a citizen of the United States, residlng at New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented certain new and usefullmprovements in Automatic Rocking Cradles; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as. will 10.
enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to'make anduse the same. 7
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in cradles and has for its primary object the provision of means for imparting rocking motion to the device for c a considerable length of time without man 7 .ual attention. 7
. vention, reference is to be had to the follow ing description and accompanylng draw- .Another object of this-invention is the provision ofan automatic rocking cradle of the above stated character which will be simple, durable and efficient, and which may be manufactured and sold at a comparatively low cost. 7
With these and other. objects in view as will become more apparent as the description proceeds, the invention consists in certain novel features of construction, combination, and arrangement of parts as will. be hereinafter more fully described and claimed. I V
For a complete understanding of my 1nings, in which Figure 1 is a perspectlve vlew illustrating an automatic rocking cradle constructed in accordance withmy invention.
Fig. 2 is a detail'view illustrating the means for impartingrocking motion to the cradle.- 7 Q r v Fig. 3 is a detail sectional view illustrating a spring motor.
Referring in detall to the drawing, the
numeral 1 indicates a supporting structure consisting of pairs of end posts '2 connected by longitudinally and transversely extending Imembers '3 and 4 respectlvely. The
, posts 2 project above the connecting mem bers 3 and 4 and have their upper ends connectedby transverse braces 5 to which are pivoted substantially triangular shaped hangers 6. HTheapexesof the hangers 6 are iplvotally connected tothe transversely extending braces 5 and the ends of the hangbed frame 7. Theends of the hangers 6 Y a ers 6 are secured to the ends of a cradle or are pivoted to the ends of the frame 7 ad'- jacent the side membersjth'ereof and a sub--.. stantially V-shaped actuating member 8 has; i the endsof its armssecured to 01 6' end of the frame 7 while itsapex has formed there-- onan extension 9'provided with a' slot .10 to receive a wrist pin 11 eccentrically secured j to a wheel 12. The wheel 12 is driven by a spring-mechanism 13 so that upon rotation of the wheel, the bed or cradle frame 7 will be rocked backand forth on itspivotal con- PatentedApn12, 1921.
nection with the transversely extending.
braces 5. A handle 14 is provided for winding the spring.
While I have shown and described the preferred embodimentof my invention, it
will be understood that minor changes in.*
construction, combination,-and arrangement a of parts may be made without departing from the spirit-and scope'of the invention as claimed.
Havingthus described the inventionej Iclaimis:
7 An automaticv rocking cradle comprising a supporting structure including pairs'of-end' posts connected by longitudinally and trans versely extending members, transversely-extending braces connecting the upper'ends of the posts in pairs, hangers pivotedto the braces, a bed frame supported by said hangers, a substantially 'V shaped actuating member secured to one end of the bed frame;
ported by the supporting structure,an ecand having a slot in its apex, a wheel sup centric wristpin on said wheel and fittin 6 in the slot, and means for rotating the whee 'In testimony whereof I afiix my signature in presence of twolwitnesses. Y
