Specification of Letters Patent.
latented Mar. 22, M921.
Application filed October '7, 1920. Serial No. 415,277.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, PHILIP ZnLnzNorr, a citizen of Russia, residing at Philadelphia, county of Philadelphia, and Eitate of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Life Savi Devices,
Alb I of which the following is a. specification.
The present invention relates to improvements in life saving devices, particularly inis equipped with means for preventing an inconvenient anl importunate oi the garment when it is to be used as a life saving device.
For further comprehension of the invention, and of the objects and advantages hereof, reference will be had to the following description and accompanying drawing, and to the appended claim in which the various novel features 'of' the invention are more particularly set forth.
in the drawing, forming a material part of thisdisclosure Figure l is a front view of a garment constructed according to the present invention.
Fig. 2 is a rear view thereof, and
Fig. 3 is section along line 33 of Fig. 2. i
is here shown, my improved life saving garment comprises a one piece suit 16 provided with short sleeves 11 and leg parts 12 provided with elastic bends 13 to close the lower ends of the leg parts around the wearers limbs. The front of the garment provided with the customary reinforcemerit band l-l allowing closing of the garment in front by means of the buttons 15 or the like.
To the inner rear wall of the garment an inflatable rubber 16 is secured provided with a channel 1 intermediate its ends for the passage of a belt 18, or the like, which is adapted to be closed at the front by the customary buckle and strap connection 19 adapted to hold the inflated rubber bag in adjusted position on the body of the wearer, so that it may not sag and impede the swimming or other motions of the persons arms and legs. From the upper edge of the rubber bag an elastic tube 20 is guided over the shoulder of the wearer to the front, where it is held in place by means of an eye 21 or the like, fastening means, and ends in a mouth piece 22 for inflation of the bag, and reinforcin rings or'washer pieces 23 and are seen ed to the garment at the rear and front thereof, at the places where the tube 20 leaves the garment, and where the eye 21 is secured to the same respectively. The mouth piece is rotatable and constitutes a valve which when turned in one direction opens the passage into the tube 20 and in the other direction closes the same to prevent the escape of air.
it will be apparent that changes may be made in the general. arrangement of the parts of which my improved garment is made or in the construction of the minor details without departing from the scope and spirit of y invention.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Leters Patent of the United Eatates is as folows A device of the character described comarising in. combination with a onepiece bathing suit, an inflatable rubber bag secured to the inner rear wall of the garment ver the back of the wearer, said bag having a closed channel intermediate its ends, a belt passer. through: said channel and L adaoted to be closed at the front part of the 1 rent to revent sagging of the inflated bag. a flexible tube secured to the rear of said bag near the upper edge thereof, a washer at the place of securing said tube to said said tube guided over the shoulders of the wearer, guide eye at the front of said garment for said tube, a strengthening washer at the place where said guide is se cured to the garment, a mouth piece providing a valro for closing said mouth piece inst the escape of the air from said bag,
means for buttoning the garment over the front part of the body of the wearer, and elastic bands for closing the leg parts of the garment over the limbs of a person.
In testimony whereof I have afliXed my signature.
PHILIP ZELEZNOFF.
Witness M. H. RoHnN.
