Be it known that 1, JOHN KREM, a subject of Austria-Hungary, residing at 9.4% South Fortieth street, Philadelphia, in the county of Philadelphia and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Life-Preserving Garments, of which the following is a specr' fication.

This invention relates to life preserving garments, the object being to provide alife preserving garment which is so made that the air will cause a body to stay at the surface of the water with only the head out of the water.

Another object of the invention is to provide an air tight and water tight garment, with flexible pure rubber strips to be wound around the neck and wrists, to prevent the water from getting in and wetting the body.

Another object of my invention is to fastenthe opening edges of the garment, and roll the edges (after fastening with snaps) up to the body andstrap same.

Another object is to provide a life preserving garment that is easily applied in a very few minutes.

Another object of my invention is to pro vide a fold in the suit which will compensate for different heights of persons using the life preserving garment.

These objects are obtained by the novel arrangements of parts hereinafter fully described and shown in the accompanying drawings, in which i Figure 1 is the front view of my improved life preserving garment, placed upon a human being. Fig. 2 is a section through the same as shown at 22 in Fig.1. Fig. 3 is a sectional view of the leg of the garment, showing the strap fastening of the foot. Fig. tie a portional view of the top of the garment, showing the flexible pure rubber strip and its place of fastening the same. Fig. 5 is a front view of the portion of the garment which is to be snapped together before rolling together. Fig. 6 is the paddle to be used in propelling the person.

Referring to the drawings, 7 indicates the canvas rubber strip of which the garment is made.

8 indicates the flexible pure rubber that is wrapped around the neck tightly, and fastened through the ring 9 in Figs. 1 and 4.

10 indicates the fastened flexible pure rubber strip onto the canvas rubber garment in Figs. 1, 4t and 5.

A indicates the front portion of the garment in Fig. 5 before it is fastened together with the snaps J and then it is rolled up, as shown at A Fig. 2, and then fastened by straps I with buckles shown in Figs. 1 and 2.

B indicates a flexible pure rubber bag in Figs. land 2 in front and back with a rubber bulb, to be used to keep the flexible pure rubber bag full of air, and this flexible pure rubber bag 1s securely fastened to the canvas rubber garment on the inside.

0 indicates the rubber bulb.

D indicates the two pockets fastened onto the outside of the garment with snaps on the top of the pocket, and indicated by dotted circles in Fig. 1.

E indicates the paddle in Fig. 6 that is to be hooked upon belt L as shown in Fig. 1.

F indicates a rubber sole as shown in Figs. 1 and 3 with a piece of lead fastened inside to keep the legs down in the water. The lead is indicated by G.

H indicates the strap with a buckle thereon in Fig. 3 holding the foot in place.

1 indicates the straps as before mentioned.

5 indicates the snaps as before mentioned.

K indicates the hook shown in Fig. 1 with hook K hooked over belt L. The life preserving garment takes a short time to be put on, and is very eflective to keep the human body dry and warm in very cold water.

M indicates a cap in Fig. 1 as shown.

N in Fig. 1 is a stifl boot form which is fastened substantially to the foot and goes up near to the knee of the person and there fastened to the life preserving garment in a water tight way, as shown in Fig. 1.

O in Fig. 1 represents a fold which is provided forthe purpose of compensating for the different heights of persons who could use the life preserving garment.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:

1. A life preserving garment composed of water proof material having a flexible and water proof neck band secured thereto at one end thereof and having a free end adapted to be wound around the wearers neck and substantially held thereto by means of a ring, a wrist band secured at one end thereof to each of the sleeves of said garment and composed of the same material as said neck band and adapted to be wound around each Wrist of the wearer and substantially held thereto by means of a second ring, a flexible bag secured to the inside of said garment and adapted to be inflated through the medium of a bulb, a series of pockets secured to the outside of said garment for the wearers convenience, a weight substantially secured to the lower end of each leg ofsaid garment, and a suitable means adapted to be hung on the belt of said garment as a means to be used by the wearer for propelling himself to safety as and for the purpose set forth.

2. A life preserving garment composed of Water proof material having a flexible and water proof neck band secured thereto at one end thereof and having a free end adapted to be wound around thewearers neck and substantially held thereto by means of a ring, a Wrist band secured at one end there of to each of the sleeves of said garment and composed of the same material as said neck band and adapted to be wound around each garment for the wearers convenience, a

weight substantially secured to the" lower end of each leg of sald garment,a means provided on each of said legs for lengthen ing or shortening the same, and a suitable means adapted to be hung on the belt of sand garment as a means to be used by the wearer for propelling himself to safety as and for the purpose set forth.
