CONCRETE GRAVE-VAULT.
Application filed October 14, 1919.
This invention relates to giave or buriall vaults and the primary object of the invention is to provide an improved concrete grave or burial vault formed of a plurality of sections which can be readily assembled.
Another object of the invention is to provide an improved concrete burial vault formed from a plurality of interitting sec-v tions which are so formed that when the same are placed in operative position, disl placement thereof is absolutely prevented.
A further object of the invention is to provide an improved sectional concrete burial vault of the above character, which is durable and etiicient in use, one that is simple and easy to manufacture, and one that can be placed upon the market at a reasonable cost.
lVith these and other objects in view, the invention consists in the novel construction, arrangement and formation of parts, as Will be hereinafter more fully described, claimed and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, forming a pai't thereof, in which Figure 1 is a perspective view of the im proved grave vault.

Referring to the drawings in detail, wherein similar reference lcharacters designate corresponding parts throughout the several views, the numeral 1 generally indicates the improved grave vault which includes the side walls 2, the end walls the lower wall 4, and the top wall 5.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Mar. 15, 1921. serial No. 330,546.
The lower wall 4 is of substantially rectangular formation and includes the longitudinally extending grooves 6 positioned adjacent the longitudinal edges of the walls and the transverse grooves 7 arranged adjacent the side edges of the walls. The
grooves are formed in the top surface of the` bottom wall and form means for receiving the tongues formed on the side and end walls, as will be hereinafter more fully described.
Each of the stantially rectangular downwardly extending tongue or rib 8 formed on its lower face which is adapted to 70 fit into the longitudinally extending grooves G formed in the lower wall. The rib or tongue 8 extends Hush with the inner surface of the side wall. The side walls are each provided with vertical groovesvpositioned adjacent to the side edges thereof and are formed in the inner face of the side walls and extend from the top edges to the lower edges thereof. The end walls 3 are each provided with the depending lower rib or tongue 10 which is adapted to fit in the transverse grooves 7 formed in the lower wall and these tongues or ribs are formed on the lower wall of the end walls adjacent to the inner surface thereof. The side walls are also provided with the outwardly extending vertical ribs ll formed on their side edges and these ribs or tongues extend flush with the inner edge of the end walls and are adapted to fit in the grooves 9 formed in the side walls 2.
The top wall 5 includes a rectangular body having the inwardly extendingk enlargement 5', which is adapted to tit in the vault and engage the side and end walls thereof. The enlargement defines outwardly extending flanges 13 the lower surfaces of which are adapted to rest upon the upper surface of the side and end walls.
As clearly shown in Figs. 2 and 3 of the drawings, the walls are reinforced by -wire netting 15 so as to provide astrong and durable construction. The body vof the wall is formed of cement mixture of cement and sand and the inside of the same is lined with Keene cement.

the grooves 9 formed in the side walls and the end walls 3 are slid downwardly until the lower tongue 12 ts in the transverse grooves 7.
During the assembling of the sections, the cement is poured into the grooves so as to form a solid airproof and watertight vault.
The meeting surfaces of the sides, end and top walls are serrated, as shown in the drawin s and cement is poured into these serrate portions, which effectively seals the lid in position.
From the foregoing description, it can be seen that an improved concrete vault is provided, which is formed of sections, that is exceedingly simple and durable in use.
In practice, I have found that the form of -Iny invention illustrated in the accompanyin drawings and referred to in the above escription, as lthe preferred embodiment, is the most efficient and practical yet realizing the conditions concurrent with the adoption of my device will necessarily vary,
I desire to emphasize that various minor changes in details of construction, proportion and arrangement of parts may be resorted to, when required without sacrificing any of the advantages of my invention as set forth. l
What I claim as new is:
A concrete grave vault comprising a bottom section havinglongitudinal grooves in its upper face and opening upon the endsy thereof and transverse grooves in its upper face connecting with-said longitudinal grooves adjacent the corners of the bottom section, side sections having reduced lower edges for engagement in the longitudinal grooves in the bottom section and provided in their inner faces with vertical grooves adjacent the ends thereof, end sections having reduced lower edges for engagement in the transverse grooves of the bottom section and reduced vertical edges for engagement in the vertical grooves of the side sections, and a cover section having its main portion depending for engagement between the side sections and the end sections, the lower face of the cover section around the depending portion thereof and the upper faces of said sides and ends having interfitting serrated edges.
