SOAP-DISPENSING arrtm von.
Application filed May 24, 1919. Serial in. 269,387.
To all whom it may concern: Be itknown that I, ETHAN Y. Z. WVooD, a citizen of China, residing at New York, in
the county of New York and State" of New a predetermined quantity of water may be dispensed with the soap.
A further object of the invention is to provide means whereby the water may be kept running and the supply of soap may be cut off.
Referring to the drawings Figure 1 is a side View of the device,
Fig. 2 is a vertical sectional view thereof,
Fig. 3 is a detail View,
Fig. 4 is a detail sectional view, and
Fig. 5 is a detail sectional view of the valve.
Referring more particularly to the valve, the reference character 10 designates the main receptacle, and leading intosaidreceptacle 10 at the rear thereof are two pipes 11 and 12, one of which serves to supply 'cold water to the main receptacle, the other member 19, adapted to engage in an opening 20 in said top 15.
As shown in Fig. 3, the front wall of the receptacle 13 is extended downwardly as at a 20 and is provided with a pliable faclng 21 which when the receptacle'13 .is turned in the receptacle 10, the pliable facing 21 will serve to cut off the flow of water from the pipes 11 and 12'.
Extending through the receptacle 10 and communicating with the receptacle 13 is a bottom of the receptacle 13'.
The lower end of the valve rod 35 is pipe 22, theupper end of which projects above the bottom 14 of the receptacle as at 23. A guard 24 is provided for the upper end 23," of the pipe 22, this guard comprislng a wire gauze; secured at its edges to the I Specification of Letters Patent. Patented Feb 192i;
Extendingfrom the bottom of'the tank 10 8 1s a pipe 26, the outer end of which is bent downwardly as at 27 to form a downwardly projected discharge nozzle 28.
The pipe 22 leading from the tank13 is bent at right anglesas at 29, toform' a short leg 30, and leading through the pipe 26 is a'second pipe 31, which only partially fills the pipe 26. A semi-circular wall 32 is built up in the pipe 26, said wall being of aheight sufficient to close the open end of the right angular leg 30 of the pipe22. This wall 32 is provided with a circular opening 33 with which the right angular leg 30 is adapted toregister, and said semi-circular wall is also adapted to close the opening of said leg 1 when in one of its positions.-
The downwardly projected nozzle 28 is provided with a valve seat 34, and slidably mounted in said valve seat which is 'substantially circular in form is a rod 35, the upper end of which is provided with a ball 36 which is adapted to engage the valve seat 34 to close the passage 'way therethrough.
pro-
vided with an operating member 37 by which the rod 35 is moved vertically to distion thereof, 71. (2., when the open end of the right angular leg 30'is in register with the pipe 31, the soap will be permitted to flow,
but when the open end of the right angular ion leg 30 is out of alinement with the pipe 31,
all flow of soap is prevented.
From the'foregoing, it will be clearly apparent. that the present invention provides a device in which water and soap may be supplied at the will of the operator, andthat either may be supplied in the desired quanv tity. I
.Having thus described the invention, what is claimed is v 1. A device of the character described comprising a water receptacle, means for supplying water thereto, a soap receptacle carried by said water receptacle, means for discharging water from said water receptacle, means for conveying soap from the soap receptacle, and means whereby movement of said soap receptacle relatively to said water receptacle will control the flow of soap from said soap receptacle.
2 A device of the character described comprising a water receptacle, means for supplying water thereto, a soap receptacle carried by said water receptacle, means for discharging water from said water receptacle, means for conveying soap from the soap receptacle, and means whereby move- I ment of said soap receptacle upon said of water thereto, and means for controlling the fiow of soap from said soap receptacle.
4. -A device ofthe character described comprising in combination, a receptacle, a water supply element for said receptacle, a soap receptacle carried by said water receptacle and having a depending wall for coacting with said supply element to control the supply of'water to the water receptacle, and means for controlling the flow of soap from said soap receptacle.
5. A device of the character described comprising a water receptacle, means for supplying water thereto, a soap receptacle, means carried by the soap receptacle for controlling the supply of water to the water receptacle, a discharge pipe leading from the water receptacle, and means located in the dischargepipe for controlling the flow of soap from the soap receptacle,
In testimony whereof I have 'afiixed my signature. 1 v
