A discharge pipe u 15 mounted in the wall 03, within a casing :10 and is connected at its rear end to the discharge port of the water supply valve t, by a pipe t, and at its front end to a depending spray nozzle y, which is held over the middle of the basin, so that, when the valve t is opened, water will be discharged from the nozzle, the latter being held in such a position that the hands may be conveniently held thereunder.
The discharge pipe 11. from the pump a, is connected to a pipe '0 which extends through a packed joint and coupling into pipe at. and through said pipe u and the nozzle 3 and terminates at itsouter end a short distance beyond the end thereof, said nozzle being preferably provided with a spray strainer z in its end in the middle'of which the pipe 1) is supported. The pipe '0 is of small diameter and has a depending end portion corresponding to the depending nozzle y, so that, when said pipe is filled with liquid, air cannot pass'the liquid therein, which will be retained by air pressure.
lVith the above described apparatus, when the lever f is pushed outwardly, the pump plunger will be raised, so as to force a supply of soap into the discharge pipe n, and after this operation has been repeated a number of times, the pipes connected to the pipe 11. will become completely filled with the liquid soap, so that each time the lever f is operated a measured quantity of liquid soap will be discharged from the pipe 12. As the receptacle 0 is arranged below the level of the discharge end of pipe v, there will be no leakage of the soap from the receptacle through the pipe, and soap will only be discharged when the pump is operated. The user will, ordinarily, hold his hands beneath the discharge pipe and first operate the lever f to discharge a supply of soap onto his hands, and then will push against the lever-f and open the supply valve, so that then Water will be discharged onto his hands from the nozzle.
The particular form of valve t which is used is notmaterial, that is, either a single valve controlling a single water supply may be employed, or a compound valve controlling both a hot and cold water supply may be provided, the type which I preferably employ being one which will first turn on the cold water and then gradually turn on the hot water and shut ofi the cold Water, as the lever is pushed in one direction.
It will be apparent'that, with the above described apparatus, the user may wash his hands with soap and water without touching any apparatus and at the same time may also have free use of his hands and arms.
It will also be apparent that, with the above'described apparatus, all the apparatus is concealed except that which must necessarily be exposed, namely, the operatinglevers and the single discharge pipe for the water and soap, so that, the whole device will have an attractive and ornamental appearance and a minimum amount of surface will be exposed which must be kept clean.
I claim 1. A dispensing apparatus for a lavatory basin comprising, an operating lever adapted to be arranged at the front thereof, and normally to=be held in position to be pushed aside by the body of the user, a pump connected to said lever, a liquid soap receptacle connected to the intake ofthe pump, a discharge pipe connected to the discharge of the pump and adapted to extend over the basin to deliver. the soap thereto when the lever is moved in one direction, and means.

In combination with a\ lavatory basin, a water "supply pipe arranged to discharge into said basin and having a valve therein, an auxiliary pipe having its discharge end adjacent the discharge end of said supplypipe, a liquid soap dispensing apparatus connected to said auxiliary pipe, and a pair of levers respectively arranged to operate said valve and said dispensing apparatus to deliver soap and water successively to the basin, substantially as described.
3. In combination with a lavatory basin, a water supply pipe arranged to discharge into saidbasin, and having a valve therein, an auxiliary pipe arranged within said discharge pipe and terminating adjacent the end thereof, a liquid soap dispensing apparatus connected to said auxiliary pipe, and means to operate said apparatus, and said valve to deliver the soap and water to the basin, substantially as described. 4. A dispensing apparatus for a lavatory basin comprising, a delivery pipe leadin thereto above the level of thebasin an having a depending pipe of small diameter, at its discharge end, adapted to prevent the passage of air to permit the displacement of liquid therein, a liquid soap receptacle arranged below the discharge end of said pipe a pump connecting said receptacle and sai pipe, and means or operating said pump, substantially as described.
5. A dispensing apparatus for a lavatory basin comprising, a liquid soap receptacle a pump connected thereto, a delivery tu e ranged beneath the basin rim' and normally project beyond the front outline thereof in position to be pushed aside by the body of the user, and connections between said lever and said pump to operate the same when the lever is moved from its normal position, substantially as described.
(5. In combination with a lavatory basin, a horizontally disposed, tubular bracket mounted at its rear end and extending forwardly at one side of the basin, an operating-rod reciprocally mounted in said bracket, operating means mounted on the front end of said bracket and in engagement with said rod, said operating means being arranged adjacent the front of the basin in position to be moved by the body of the user, to reciprocate said rod, a pipe leading to said basin, havingv liquid dispensing means connected thereto, and means controlled by said rod when it is reciprocated to operate said dispensing means, substantially as described.
7. In combination with a lavatory basin, a horizontally disposed, tubular bracket mounted at its rear end and extending forwardly at one side of the basin, an operating rod reciprocally mounted in said bracket, a lever mounted on the front end of said bracket and in engagement with said rod, said lever having an arm arran ed adjacent the front of the basin in position to be moved aside by the body of the user, to reciprocate said rod, a pipe leading to said basin, having liquid dispensing means connected thereto, and means respectively controlled by said rod when it is reciprocated by said lever to operate said dispensing means, substantially as described.
