SUPPORT OR HOLDER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Jan. 25, 1921.
Application filed March 8, 1920. Serial No. 362,915.
vented certain new and useful Improve-' men-ts in Supports or Holders, of which the following 15 a speclfication.
My inventlon is an improvement in supports or holders, and has for its object to provide a device of the character specified, of ornamental construction, adapted for supporting a safety razor and the blades in V a convenient position for use when desired,
and which may be suspended from the wall, or stood upon a dressing table or the like.
In the drawings:
Figure 1 is a front view of the improved support;
Fig. 2 is a side view;
Fig. 3 is a top plan view.
In the present embodiment of the invenion a plate 1 is provided, having an ornamental contour, as shown, and a suitable width and length, and this plate is provided at its top with an opening 2 for receiving a nail or the like to permit the plate to be suspended. A substantially rectangular frame 3 of wire or the like is hinged to the back of the support, to permit the support to be supported in easel fashion.
Referring to Fig. 1, it will be seen that this frame is of greatest width at its bot-. tom, decreasing in width toward the top, and that the top cross member is journaled in a bearing 4 which is secured to the plate 1 near its top. A lower cross member of the frame 3 is offset slightly upwardly, as indicated at 5 in Fig. 1, to provide at each end of the said cross member a species of foot.
The holder for the razor, indicated at 6, is a plate 7' which is secured transversely of the upper end of the front face of the plate 1, being secured to the plate by rivets 8 which secure the hinge bearing 4 to the plate. Thisplate, as shown more particularly in Fig. 1, has a depending portion 9 at its center with which the rivets are connected, and at each end the plate has an outwardly bent arm 10, which is provided at its free end with an inwardly bent portion 11 of greater depth than the Width of the arm 10, the arrangement being such that this portion 11 extends above the plane of the upper edge of the arms 10. The guard of the razor 6 is designed to rest on these arms 10, with the handle of the blade depending between the arms, the guard being prevented from forward movement by the portions 11 of the arms.
Holders are also provided for the blade boxes 12, and the same piece or" metal that provides these blade holders also provides a receptacle at the bottom of the plate 1. A plate 13 is arranged transverseiy of the front face of the lower end or" the piate 1, and the ends of the plate are bent around the edges of the plate 1, as indicated at let.
The plate has upward extensions 15 which are shaped to form spring holders for the blade boxes 12. As shown in Fig. 2, each of these extensions 15 is bent forwardiy at a right angle to the plate 13 and thence upwardly and inwardly and again outwardly, to provide in the upwardly extending portion a part bearing against the blade box to resiliently hold it in place. At its lower end the plate carries a receptacle 16 which is open at its top and may be used for any desired purpose.
in use, the improved support may be arranged as shown in Fig. 2, supported easel fashion, or it may be suspended by a nail or the like engaging the opening 2. The razor may be released from the arms 10 merely by moving it upwardly and for wardly, and the blade boxes may be'slipped out laterally or they may be drawn upwardly to release them from the holders 15.
I claim:
A device of the character described comprising a plate-like support, a hinge memher disposed at the back thereof, a movable frame engaged with said hinge member, a plate disposed against the front of said support in alinement with said hinge member, securing members passing through said support and said plate, forwardly extending arms on the ends of said plate, and upward extensions on the free ends of said arms, said arms forming a support for the head of a safety razor and said extensions restraining the razor against movement away from the support.
