This invention relates to machines for removing the protruding ends of pegs from the inner surfaces of the soles of boots and shoes; and it consists in supporting and pivoting the float upon the ends of two standards, one stationary and the other adjustable, and held in position by a spring-buckle having a pin which enters holes in the standard.
' In the accompanying drawing, Figure I is a front elevation. Fig. ll is a side elevation, showing the adjustable end of the float in its highest position; Fig. III is a similar view with the adjustable end of the float in its highest position.
A is the stationary standard, which may be arranged to screw upon a counter; or a handle, A, may be arranged upon its lower end. B
' is the adjustable support for the float having holes I; b b. Uis the buckle or fastener, pivoted to the stationary standard at a through flanges c. The face of the fastener is in the shape of a double loop, the upper end of' which is provided with a pin, d, which enters the holes b b b, and is held therein by the action of the spring D under the opposite end of the fastener. E is the float, which has two lugs, e and e, to which the standards A B are pivoted. It has the usual corrugations or teeth formed upon its face.
The object of the invention is to provide a pegging-tioat which is perfectly adjustable and perfectly rigid in the positions in which it is intended to be held, and one that can be adjusted during the operation of floating a boot or shoe without removing the same.
Ola-5m.
The combination of the float E, adjustable standard 13, and a pivoted fastening device, 0, actuated by a spring, and having a pin which enters holes in the adjustable standard, for the purpose and substantially as described.
