To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, GEORGE W. ROBBINS, a citizen of the United States, residing at Arlington, in the county of Bush and State of Indiana, have invented new and useful Improvements in Toilet Kits for Automobilists, Campers, &c-., of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to a toilet kit for the use of campers, automobilists, etc.

The object of the invention is to provide a simple, COIlVGHlGlll) and compact type ofkit wherein a wash-basin and other toilet accessories may be kept, together with means for storing a supply of water for toilet use, whereby the automobilist or camper may readily and conveniently cleanse his hands and face and perform other toilet operations when occasion requires.

The invention consists of the features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts, hereinafter fully described and claimed, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, in Wl1lCl1Z Figure 'l is a front elevation of the kit with the lid and compartment door thrown open.

in carrying my invention into practice, i provide a box or receptacle 1 preferably of oblong rectangular form and made of sheet metal or other suitable material. This box or receptacle may be of such dimensions as to be conveniently carried upon one of the running boaros or any other suitable part of the vehicle. It includes in its construction a bottom wall 2,front and rear walls 3 and 4, end walls 5 and a lid or cover 6.

The box is designed to contain a storage tank *4 of comparatively shallow depth, in

which a supply of water may be carried for storage purposes. The tank may be made of galvanized metal or other suitable waterproof material and 18 provided in its top with a filling inlet normally closed by a plug or other suitable closure 8, and at its front the tank is provided with a discharge faucet 9. The tank may be withdrawn through an opening in the front wall 3 whenever it is desired to replenish it with water, and may then he slid conveniently back into its place in the box. A door 10 is provided for closing the opening in the wall 3 and holding the tank from displacement, and this door is hinged at its lower edge to the wall 2, as indicated at 11, and turn buttons or other suitable fastenings 12 are provided upon the wall 3 for securing said cover in closed position. The tank is of substantially equal length with the box and snugly fits between the end walls'of the latter but may be easily slid in or out of the box through the front opening therein. The tank is of slightly less width than the box so the faucet 9 will be wholly within the box when the tank is moved to its rearward limit within the box. The door 10 may be then closed without interference of the faucet. To facilitate withdrawal of the tank for filling or other purposes a hand grip 13 is secured to the front face of the tank to be conveniently gripped by the user of the device.

Arranged within the top of the box or receptacle is a horizontal table or shelf 14, which extends throughout the length and width of the box andis supported by the walls thereof. This table or shelf is depressed a sufficient distance below the upper edges of the walls 8, l and 5' to provide a space of sufiicient depth to permit the lid or cover 6 to be swung downwardly into the top of the box or receptacle so that'its inner surface will lie flush with the said upper edges of the walls 3, 4 and 5. The ledge or table 14 is adapted to serve as a support for a brush, comb and various other toilet articles or accessories while the same are in use. The table is provided with a depressed portion forming a soap receptacle 15 which may normally be closed by a sliding cover 16 held in position by spring clips or other suitable retainers, not shown. The lid or cover 6 is preferably hinged at its lower edge to the rear wall of the receptacle 1, as indicated at 17,-and a folding brace 18 of suitable construction is provided for holding it open'and in a suitably inclined position. A mirror 19 is mounted upon the inner face of the cover (3 in such position as to be in alinement with the table 1 1- so that the mirror may be conveniently employed for observation purposes while the toilet articles or accessories supported on the table 14 are in service. The mirror is adapted when the cover 6 is closed to overlie the table let and is held in position by spring clips or other suitable fastenings 20, Also suitably disposed upon the inner face of the cover 6 are spring clips 21 which may be employed for clamping a comb or other toilet article 22, so that such article may be held in convenient position for use when the cover is thrown open.

Arranged at one end of the receptacle 1 beneath the table surface 14: are vertical partitions 23 forming a series of compartments 24:, 25 and 26. These compartments may be employed for the storage of brushes, towels and other toilet articles or accessories which may be conveniently stored therein against displacement and for ready and con venient extraction and use. The said compartments are jointly closed by a cover 27 hinged at its lower edge to the wall 3, as indicated at 28, a turn button or other suitable fastening 29 being provided to secure it in closed position.

The end of the table 14 remote from the compartments 2%, 25 and 26 is provided with a large circular opening to receive the removable wash-basin 30. This basin is relatively deep so as to contain a sufficient quantity of water for washing purposes, and is provided at its upper edge with a head 31 to limit its movement downward through the opening. It will be understood, of course, that such arrangement provides a convenient basin receptacle and toilet table whereby, after the basin 30 has been supplied with water from the faucet 9, the user may wash up after performing work upon the car, or such other times as occasion may require, and may then employ the toilet articles upon the table in conjunction with the mirror to complete his toilet. The basin may be of such height that when the cover 6 is closed it will be engaged by the cover and held pressed lightly but suii'iciently against the table it to prevent it from shifting or rattling while the vehicle is in motion. lVhen the basin 30 is removed it will expose the space or chamber between the table 1% and the top of the tank 7, so that said chamber may be employed for the storage of soiled linen or articles or for containing various articles not intended for immediate use.

As stated, the kit may be conveniently carried upon a running board or other part of the vehicle and secured in position there on in any suitable manner, and provides a means whereby water and toilet articles may be conveniently carried for toilet purposes,

so that, when water or toilet articles are not otherwise available, the kit may be made use in an obvious manner. The kit will be found of special service in enabling an automobilist to wash up after having made repairs or performed other disagreeable work upon the car.

rlaving thus fully described my invention, l claim l. A toilet kit comprising a box of substantially oblong rectangular form, said box being open at the top, a horizontal partition disposed within the top of the box below the level of the upper edge thereof and forming a table surface, said partition having openings therein, a basin adapted to fit in one of said openings and having a beaded edge to rest upon the table surface, a cover for closing the open top of the box and adapted to clamp said beaded edge of the basin against said table surface, a series of compartments arranged beneath the table surface, one of said compartments being in communication at its top with the other opening in the table surface, a receptacle positioned in said opening and depressed below the table surface so as to lie in the upper portion of one of said compartments, said compartments having a common doorway in one of the side walls of the box, a closure for said doorway, and a closure for it l receptacle adapted to underlie the cover when the latter is in closed position.

A toilet kit comprising a box, a table comprising a plate of equal length and width with the box arranged within the latter slightly below the upper edges thereof, the said table having an opening therein, a basin removably arranged in said opening, a bead on the upper edge of the basin limiting the downward movement of the latter, the upper edges of the basin extending up even with but slightly higher than the upper edges of the walls of the box, and a lid to close the upper end of the box, said lid adapted to engage the beaded upper edges of the basin to hold the latter against movement.
