LOOM TEMPLE. APPLICATION FILED APR. I7. 1920.

UNITED STATES JOHN HAMERSKI, OF GOODYEAR, CONNECTICUT.
LOOM-TEMTPLE.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Jan. 45, 1921.
Application filed April 17, 1920. Serial No. 374,588.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, JOHN HAMnnsKI, a citizen of Poland, residing at Goodyear, county of WVindham, and State of Connecticut, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Loom-Temples, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates generally to looms, having more particular reference to an improvement in the means for mounting the loom temples which hold the warp stretched during weaving.
The invention has for an object to provide an improved and simplified slide-base for mounting the temple on the breast-beam of the loom.
For further comprehension of the invention, and of the objects and advantages thereof, reference will be had to the following description and accompanying drawings, and to the appended claims in which the various novel features of the invention are more particularly set forth.
Figure 1 of the drawings is a detail face view showing the breast-beam of a loom with the temples secured thereon by means of my improved slide-base.
Fig. 2 is a detail perspective view of the slide-base.
In the drawings 10 indicates the breastbeam of a loom of ordinary construction, this breast-beam having the usual longitudinal slot 11 therein. The temple jaws are shown at 12, being of any approved constrhction and mounted on the upper ends of vertical rods 13 carried in stands 14, these stands being carried in my improved slide-base, a separate slide supporting each stand as will be understood. At their lower ends, the rods 13 carry nuts 13 in order to limit the downward movement of the members 141.
My improved slide-base comprises a rectangular plate 15 elongated longitudinally of the breast-beam 10 and being of a width equal to the vertical width of the breastbeam. Upon the rear face of this plate are formed a pair of longitudinally extending tongues 16 and 17 adapted to project into the slot in the breast-beam to slidably guide the plate 15 during adjustment on the breast-beam. Between these tongues, and in alinement therewith, the plate 15 is formed with a pair of apertures 18 adapted to receive bolts 19 which engage in the slot in the breast-beam and thus secure the plate in place.
The outer end portion of the plate 15 is formed on the front face of the plate with a thickened portion 20 upon opposite sides of which are vertical ribs 21 forming between them a guiding groove in which the temple stand 14- is received, the latter being secured in place by means of screws 22 passing therethrough and through the thickened end portion of the plate provided with holes 22 not passing entirely through the plate, and against which the stand is clamped by the screws. This end portion in which the stand is held is preferably extended vertically as at 20' to increase the bearing of the stand, the rib 21 being correspondingly extended.
It will be apparent that with my improved base-slide the temples are securely held on the breast-beam and that any adjustment required can be quickly and easily made. It is to be understood that the slidebases at opposite ends of the loom will be of right and left construction, being otherwise of identical construction.
Having thus described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States is- 1. A base-slide for loom temples, comprising an oblong rectangular plate having a pair of longitudinally alined ribs on the back face thereof, and having a plurality of openings therethrough between and in alinement with the said ribs, said plate having at one end a forwardly thickened portion presenting vertical side ribs forming groove between them.
2. A base-slide for loom temples, comprising an oblong rectangular plate having a pair of longitudinally alined ribs on the back face thereof, and having a plurality of openings therethrough between and in alinement with the said ribs, said plate having at one end a forwardly thickened portion presenting vertical side ribs forming a groove between them, said thickened portion being extended vertically beyond the side edge of the said plate.
In testimony whereof I have afiiXed my signature.
JOHN HAMERSKI.
