- To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, Gnonen S. CLAs0N, a citizen Or the United States, residing in the city and county of Denver and State of Colorado, have invented a new and useful Razor-Blade'l'iandle. of which the following is a specification.

My invention relates to improvements in handles for holding razor blades While the same are being sharpened. The object 01": my improvement is to provide a positive method of clamping the razor blade in the handle with a single movement of the operating member.

I attain this object by the mechanism illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in Which Figure l is general view showing the razor blade clamped in position to be sharpened; Fig. 2 is an end View; 3, side View of the handle member with the operating member removed; Fig. 4, an end View of thehandle; 5, a side View of the operating member; Fig. 6, an end View or the operating member.

91. represents the handle. B represents the sliding or clamping member. Forming a part of the handle A. are the grippers l opposing each other and normally at a slight distance apart. The grippers are attached to tie handle by anarrow portion E, pcrmitting them to be sprung together by a light pressure.

The operating member ll comprises a body portion formed to fit over the handle A, an eXtension'F. and operating lug (l. a stop ll a d tie extensions J. J. in opposing pairs. In the extensions J. J. are depressions K. ren .senting rounded projections on the under side of said Xtensions.

To open the grippers, the operating member should be pushed along the handle until the obstructions K. K. slide off the grippers D. D. This permits the grippers to assume their normal position a slight distance apart. In such position the razor blade can be inserted. By pulling back the operating member B, the obstructions K. K. press against the grippers D. D. and clamp them tightly against the blade.

. My invention can be made from any suitable material. preferably sheet metal that can be stamped. into the required shapes and bent into the required forms.

I claim:

1. in a razor blade holder, a handle member carrying longitudinally spaced opposed gripping members normally standing apart,

a sliding member operating along the handle member and adapted to close the gripping members or permit them to open as the same is moved back and forth.

2. In a razor blade holder, in combination. a handle, longitudinally spaced opposed gripping members earried thereby and normally standing apart, a slide member upon the handle and means carried by the slide member for forcing the gripping members together by sliding movement of the slide member.

3. In a razor blade holder, in combination, a handle, longitudinally spaced opposed gripping members carried thereby and normally standing apart, a slide meniber upon the handle, longitudinally .paeed members carried by the slide member for for-sing the gripping members toward each other or releasing them to normal position by movement of the'slide.
